Glitter Books Novels & Stories

, Rachel grunts. I want to say "Why", but I don't want to risk sounding like a creep so I whatever her and go back to going through the rest of the shelf even though I'd done that a thousand times before. I drag my hands across the spines of the books; Kara Taylor's Prep School Confidential, Carol Wyer's The Secret Admirer, and Megan Goldin's The Night Swim. You would be subtle to call Rachel a crime-thriller addict - she's more of a crime freak. The Night Swim. There is a piece of paper sticking out of it. I pull it out of the book. Something is scribbled across it in Rachel's handwriting.

A Dangerous Celebration The grand hall shimmered with an ethereal glow, bathed in the warm glint of gold and silver decorations. The walls, painted with fine layers of glittering paint, reflected the glow of the chandeliers, making the entire room seem like it was draped in stars.

The Codex umbra as he went on to explain to me materializes in his hands. I just stood there gawking and trying to protect my eyes at the same time. Its cover was adorned with glittering, gemstone-like symbols and markings that seemed to shift and glow in the light. The book emitted a faint, pulsating glow as if it contained the essence of the very night stars. “He's happy to see you,” Rune interpreted. “Oh,” I said shocked at the twist in the event, “Hello there” I waved “Let's get started” Rune continued after the whole display of lights and pixie dust, if what I saw was pixie dust.

Then, a voice—rough with effort—came through. "How are you holding up?" I let my smile fade. "I'm doing well." Silence fell again. Losing patience, I said, "If there's nothing else, I'm going to hang up now." His voice came through, sounding strangely weak. "I made a museum for you, filled with all sorts of bracelets. "And the dreamcatcher, I've repaired it." I kept my tone cool. "My lover's in the jewelry business. We don't need it. "Plus, that dream catcher's beyond repair. It'll just break again. Goodbye."

Which meant the easiest way to kill them was in wolf form, when our superior strength could simply rip them apart. Alpha Lord Grizzle must've really needed this victory if he was willing to use up a significant supply of our most precious resourse. Becky felt a sudden jolt in her fingers which touch the area. She became shocked looking at the book and immediately pull her hand back.

“do not read your own book—you might not like how it ends.” Glancing further up the case, the letter ‘G’ was carved in deeply. I scanned the books with my eyes and found myself reading the names that were painted on the spines of the books. Glenda Macon, Gregory Marsh, Gwyn Masters… Each book had a name embroidered on the spine. The books were all black, with names in a flat white. I didn’t know what magic smelled like, but this room felt like it had some. I stepped inside slowly, looking around like the brave warrior princess I pretended to be when I played with my dolls. That sounded cool.
