Chapter 2️⃣4️⃣ ❤️ Myrrak's Jealousy ❤️ She went back to the wardrobe and reached into the same hidden place where she had gotten the dark orb pendant. This time, her fingers touched something cold and smooth. She pulled it out carefully. It was a small hand mirror, round and old, with tiny gold around the silver frame. She wiped off the dust with the edge of her dress, gave it one last clean swipe with her palm, then cleared her throat quietly.

This damn mirror… It stood on the wall like an antique masterpiece, its ornate frame exuding an air of elegance and mystery. Its surface was polished to perfection, reflecting the light that filtered through the nearby window, casting a soft, ethereal glow over the room. The glass itself seemed to hold secrets, as if it had witnessed countless moments in time and retained a hint of the past within its depths. I noticed that it was intricately etched with delicate patterns, almost like ancient symbols that held an enigmatic allure. There was an air of timelessness to the mirror, as if it had been there since the beginning of time, silently observing the world around it.

I slammed Kieran’s door on my way out a little harder than necessary, stomping down the hall in what I hoped looked like queenly indignation rather than childish pouting. I was halfway to convincing myself that I was done thinking about getting interrupted by the Elder in what could possibly have been the best night of my life, when I caught sight of something gleaming on the wall. A mirror. Not the cheap kind from Target that warps your reflection, but a heavy gilded thing framed in carved wolves and moons.

A giant mirror emerged from the undulating surface, its frame intricately carved with symbols I didn’t recognize, glowing faintly in the dim light. My breath hitched as the mirror’s surface swirled with silvery spirals, spinning faster and faster until they coalesced into an image. I stared, wide-eyed, as a scene began to unfold before me, vivid and lifelike as though I were standing in the middle of it.

Almost as if its bearings were too much for it to hold. The thin mirror was elongated in shape. Rectangular, with tarnished gold rims that emphasized its edges with a vintage appeal. Nonetheless, it looked akin to any other mirror. At least that's what I've been told. Normal, they say? What a good job I've done then, I thought with some reverence. A few years back I infused concealing magic into the mirror so it performs as a walk-in cell. Years of work and nights went without sleep. All for control. The power I will hold in just a few years’ time sends shivers down my back. The hunger rears its head. And it knows what is waiting for him.

There was a bucket of water right next to him, and a large rectangular crystal called a Reflection Crystal bound to the wall that served a similar function to a mirror. Although the image that appeared in the crystal wasn’t as clear as a mirror image, it was pretty good and would serve the purpose for which Mane wanted it to.

The hot water provided a physical release, relaxing his tense muscles, but his mind remained a cauldron of seething anger. Steam enveloped the bathroom, a visual representation of the heated emotions coursing through Asher. In a fit of rage, he directed his anger towards a decorative mirror on the wall, pounding it again and again. The bathroom echoed with the sounds of shattered glass, a stark contrast to the calm facade Asher usually presented. This was not the person he wanted to be, and the realization fueled his frustration even more. All of this, he believed, was a consequence of Ezra's actions.

She’d sneak them back to the trunk in the morning. The book was old, with patterns engraved into the leather cover and there were burn marks around the edges, too. Like someone tried to burn the book. Gemma shook her head and tucked the brown leather book away in the spacious cavity. The ornate mirror was harder to handle because of its weight, and Gemma was more careful with it. But she wanted a closer look at it. Its frame looked like silver. Evan was correct. The mirror’s reflection was off. She could not see her own image in it. Gemma needed to concentrate and stare hard into the glass to make out anything.

I pulled the cord and began to climb the ladder. Once I made it to the attic, I began shining the light through the room, but I still didn't see anything. Walking through, I felt something touch the bottom of my foot; it was glass. Why was there glass? I looked up to see a mirror that used to be in my room; I remember it like it was yesterday. Mom and Dad took it out when I was little because I woke up from nightmares; I was six, talking about gruesome things that a six-year-old girl shouldn't know about. I shoved that memory aside and looked back at the mirror then started to leave, but I saw something, a glimpse of something "Hello?" I breathed; my chest was beginning to hurt. I heard the
