We all rocked back, Lusia was still shaking, gripping my arm, while I scrutinized the floor, my Lycan eyes sifting through every detail—blood trails, scuffs on the dirt, faint outlines of struggle.

My muscles ached with a deep, satisfying throb, and for the first time in days, the phantom itch of the mate bond had settled into a dull, manageable numbness. I was winning. I was becoming the silence. Then, the smell hit me. It wasn't the earthy, pine-heavy scent of the Shadow Pack. It was sharp. Artificial. It smelled like a laboratory—like bleach and bitter almonds. "Lyra?" I called out, standing up. My voice felt tight. The main cavern was already in motion. The Shadow wolves weren't panicking—they were too disciplined for that but there was a frantic edge to their movements. "It once belonged to you, but you misplaced it—a consequence of the tumultuous journey your life has taken. Now, it lies in the depths of the sewer, a realm few dare to tread." As we continued, the air thickened with an unspoken tension. The Watcher's lair materialized in a cavern hidden behind a shimmering veil. The entrance seemed like a tear in reality, a passage to a dimension where time moved differently. We stepped through, and the lair unfolded—a sanctuary that transcended the boundaries of the ordinary.

More crashing noises followed as the hideous Wendigos kept ramming themselves against the windows of different buildings, hunting the pack members who fought them off. Two of them left him and fixated their ugly eyes on us, their sharpened stained teeth ground against each other as a few more joined them. 'Shift, let me take care of these fuckers,' Laila snarled in my head. Before I could shift the ugly fiends simultaneously attacked and all my thoughts went to Melsine's frightened face and her child as her gut-wrenching scream filled the air.

I know my capabilities and yet, someone died. I gently let go of Quinn’s body and let my body shiver. With my hands now covering my face, I let out a silent cry for a friend who never left my side until the end. “Did you see the one who did this?” I asked Rendall as I am looking around the forest. “I saw it ran,” Rendall slowly replied. “Where?” “Domlur.” I move my gaze to the path going to Domlur. I suddenly felt the urge to slash everything on my way, my eyes never felt clearer and my hatred for these werewolves becomes greater.

The faint sound of dripping water reverberated through the tunnel, echoing their footsteps. After what felt like an eternity of descending, the passageway opened up into a cavernous chamber, overrun with twisted flora and murky water. A putrid stench filled the air, making it difficult to breathe. They had arrived at the heart of the Ancient One's lair. Suddenly, a guttural growl rumbled from the depths of the chamber, causing their hearts to skip a beat. Emerging from the shadows, the creature's eyes glowed with a malevolent brilliance. It towered over them, its skeletal frame covered in matted fur and shards of ancient armor.

Without thinking, Lylah backed away from the glowing screen, her heart hammering so loud she thought they’d hear it. She couldn’t be caught in here again. Her hands fumbled in the darkness as she moved along the wall, remembering Dr. Ganner’s words. Behind the sterilization chamber… a crawlspace… shielded from infrared… She crouched, her palms scraping along cold tile, feeling for the edge of the chamber. She found the lower panel. There—just as Ganner had said—a small, hidden latch beneath it. Her fingers gripped it and tugged. It resisted for a second, then came loose with a low clink.

_Chase’s POV_ I stepped into the modest house, my senses on high alert. Laila's tense demeanor and the eerie silence had my wolf growling, ready for any sight of trouble. As I entered the dimly lit room, a pungent smell assaulted my nostrils - sweat, dirt, and something feral. I felt Laila hold her breath next to me, and my eyes adjusted slowly, and what I saw made my blood run cold. A wolf, once a member of our pack, now lay chained to the floor. His eyes, once bright and full of life, had turned wild and vacant. His fur was matted, dirty, and scarred.

Chapter 52: The Obsidian Core The heavy steel blast doors slammed shut with a concussive thud that rattled Laila’s teeth. The sound echoed through the subterranean laboratory, followed immediately by the synchronized, heavy clicks of the armored Feral wolves advancing. They moved with a chilling, mechanical precision, their claws clicking against the metal floor plates like a countdown timer.
