Before You Go

Before You Go

Dominic was never one for public display of affections, neither was he one to go grocery shopping– being the son of a rich man and all. The voice of the cashier lady yelling "Next" brought me out of my daydream back to the present. We moved slowly till it reached out turn, we– actually Zack– paid and then we started home. On our way we detoured to Mac Donald's and ordered burgers and fries with iced drinks from their drive through and drive home while singing along to "All the single ladies" playing on the radio. We returned home, packed the stuff in their respective cabinets and headed to our rooms. Zack muttering something about needing to work, and I, to take a nap.

Going Out With a Bang

Going Out With a Bang

After leaving the hospital, Harriet took Jeremy straight to our home. She came up with the excuse that his injury made it inconvenient for him to manage his daily life on his own to justify taking him back with her. As soon as they entered the house, Jeremy took out a pair of indoor slippers and even found the remote control to turn on the television without so much as looking around. His smooth actions and familiarity with the surroundings made one thing painfully clear—Harriet had brought him to our home many times before.

They Got Me Fired, So I Went Home to My Fortune

They Got Me Fired, So I Went Home to My Fortune

Jacob Larson, my older brother, gasped on the other end of the phone before chuckling. "What, has our heiress finally understood how cruel society can be and decided to return home to take over the family business?" There was silent support and encouragement in his familiar, lighthearted teasing. Unfortunately, I was in no mood to joke. "Yes. I'd like to go back. Can you arrange it?" Sensing something amiss, Jacob had a feeling that I was upset and hurt. He wasted no time in agreeing to my request. "Come back, then. The doors of Larson Group will always be open to you."

CALL BOY, BIG TROUBLE

CALL BOY, BIG TROUBLE

i muttered to myself. Ransacking through my bag, i took out my black sun glasses and put them on. Cautiously, i stepped out of the car and walked briskly to the entrance. I slipped in and headed straight to the bar, avoiding contact with anyone… except.. “Oh.. I'm so sorry.! I apologized as i bumped into someone when I wasn't looking up. " Are you blind.? Can't you watch where you're going.? Besides who even wears glasses at night except a blind person.? Jezzz…

Charity Starts at Home

Charity Starts at Home

I had no idea how I even got home. I opened the door to find Roddy still on the couch. Staring at my ashen complexion, he sneered, “I told you not to go. You’re only embarrassing yourself.” The remark was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I took large strides over and stood before him. “Roddy.” My voice was terrifyingly still. “Your good neighbor said that they won’t return the money you so willingly gave. She dares you to ask for the money back yourself.”

I'm an Outsider in My Own Home

I'm an Outsider in My Own Home

To save 50 dollars on rent, I took over the snow shoveling and trash removal for the entire run-down apartment building. My move into the basement fell right on my birthday. Down on my knees, I scrubbed the moldy floor three times over. Then, with the little change I had left from my part-time job, I went to the convenience store and bought the cheapest discounted cupcake there. Just as I was about to light the candle, my phone suddenly blew up with a flood of push notifications. It was the local financial news—the headline read that Fabio's company had successfully gone public with a ringing of the bell.
