I inhaled and moved forward. Nearing the goblins I could hear their snitches and incomprehensible words. I sealed my lips tight afraid that I let out any sounds that would possibly endanger my group mates. When I was near enough to see the flag a stalactite just an inch before me cracked and fell down. The time went slow motion for me, it was already impossible to stop the fast plunging of the stalactite. The rock made a thumping sound on the stone floor echoing all throughout the dungeon. Silence fell for a moment, the goblins slowly looked up, and I stopped breathing.

The pathway cut off a few feet before me, disappearing over the edge of what I could only describe as an indoor cliff. With a small step forward a peek over the side and into the deep black depths. A small piece of me felt disappointed, I was expecting to see a bottomless pit of fire, not…nothing. My foot shuffles forward, uprooting a small rock which disappears over the edge into the black depths of the cave. I waited to hear a thud of the rock landing below me, but no sound came. Rather, the room lit up like a Christmas tree, as the flames of hell ignited before me, dancing before me eyes and welcoming me like an old friend.

I close my eyes, bracing myself for the worst. But minutes pass, and I feel no pain. I wait for another minute, but their taunting voices are eerily absent. Slowly, I open my eyes, cautiously scanning the vicinity. To my astonishment, the two goblins are nowhere to be found. They have vanished without a trace. A wave of confusion and relief washes over me as I struggle to comprehend what just happened. I search the surroundings, but there is no sign of their presence. It is as if they were mere figments of my imagination, a fleeting nightmare that has dissipated into the ether.

With just one glance, she recognized the three beastmen. Everyone else also noticed them and showed signs of wariness.
