The sound of Gideon’s cries echoed through the warehouse as Ruan began to vent weeks of betrayal and rage.
"Ruan, we have to go!" I shouted, seeing more SUVs pulling up outside. "There's too many of them!"
Ruan looked up, his face streaked with Gideon’s blood. He saw the tactical teams closing in, their shields glinting in the neon light of the harbor. He looked at me, then at the man beneath him. With one final, sickening crack, Gideon went limp.
Ruan stood up, his chest heaving. He didn't look back at the traitor. He ran for me, grabbing me by the waist and shielding me with his body as we broke for the side exit.
