Goodnight Moon Margaret Wise Brown Novels & Stories

“I made them mac and cheese and told them if they finished all the food, I’d read them a bedtime story. So, they did, we struggled through bathtime, and then the three of us got into my bed.” My heart skips a few beats. “I read Goodnight, Moon at least three times. By the end of the third read, I had one little girl sleeping on either side of me, snoring as they cuddled closer to me.” “They love you,” I say, obviously. “They love me because I was there. I fell asleep between the two of them having gotten nothing done. In my head on that day, the only thing that needed to be done was looking after my girls. I ended up skipping work later that week to get checked out for anything broken, but t

Then I went home to the empty rooms and sat down at my drawing table for the last time. I had never told Dominic about the comic. Nora was the only one who knew. It was called Where the Moth Goes. I had drawn it under the pen name Moth & Moon for six years. In the hours after midnight when he was asleep and the company's numbers were closed. It was about a small moth, a lamp, and a night sky too big to understand. It had three hundred thousand readers, and not one of them knew it was me. On the first page, a moth circles a lamp. That's all. The lamp is warm and gold and bright. The moth circles and circles, closer and closer, giving up the whole dark sky for one small light.

"Just for tonight." Luna looked at her. "Why?" she asked. Margaret smiled. Just a little. "Because everyone needs somewhere to sleep," she said.Luna didn't answer. She just nodded. That night, Luna lay in a small bed in a small room. The sheets were clean. The pillow was soft. She stared at the ceiling. She thought about Marcus. She thought about Mrs. Harlow. Live... don't let them win. She closed her eyes. "I'm trying," she whispered. "I'm trying."

The year Daniel went broke, I swallowed every last drop of pride.  I took a job as a dancer at a shady nightclub just to pay off his debts. We lived in a forty-dollar-a-night basement room, surviving on stale energy bars and tap water.  I became the laughingstock of everyone we used to know. Eight years later, he pulled off the ultimate comeback and clawed his way back to the top. His very first move?  Bringing his high school sweetheart, Mia, straight into our home. At his victory party, in front of a room packed with people, he laid down three rules for me. "First, keep your distance in public. Mia’s a total germaphobe. "Second, Mia is sensitive. From now on, tell people yo

7 -Rowan This place hasn’t changed much in the last two years. I stop at the fence surrounding the grounds, taking in the building and realizing that I haven’t stepped foot near here since the rejection. Guilt immediately washes over me. These poor kids did nothing wrong and I let myself become so consumed with my own pain, I didn’t even think what leaving would do to them. When Hazel finally talked me into returning to visit, I was so ashamed at not being good enough to fulfill my job as Luna, I couldn’t face anyone.

“So that way.” 16B was a much larger section than I expected. Still, it made sense since wolves were always passing down stories to the younger generations, true or not. “Found it,” I said. It took forty-five minutes but I found a book on the Moon Blessed that was not a kid's bedtime story. “When the Goddess becomes a man,” I read out the title. From the cover, I could tell it was still a fiction story for the most part. But it was better than nothing at all.

He smiled. After a long shower I head to bed in Liam’s room. He is still on the couch reading a book. Its not long before I am settled under the covers that I feel Liam lay down beside me. I don’t want to talk so I pretend to be asleep, within minutes he is snoring. *** I wake up to the moon shinning bright on my face. I don’t hear Liam snoring. I feel beside me and he is gone. I hear his footsteps heading down the hall and the front door creak open and then shut.

Lynx scrambled away, still laughing even as Nathaniel chased him through the underbrush, sparks flying from his fingertips. Lalaine shook her head, a small smile playing on her lips. "The grown-ups are more childish than the orphans," she whispered to the girls, leading them back toward the nun to show off their braided hair. ---- Meanwhile, the library was a tomb of silence. To Stella, it felt like an orphanage for old, forgotten books. She wandered the aisles until a spine on the highest shelf caught her eye. She climbed the rolling wooden ladder, her fingers trembling as she pulled the volume out. "The Moon Princess" was embossed on the cover. There was no author listed. She flipped it op

"Just get some pizzas. Oh, breadsticks and applesauce for Kas. Do you want anything else, Baby?" "A banana would be great. I'm really hungry." Bronx smiles. "Get the lady a banana, Milo!" I turn back to the book I'm reading. It is written in old English, so it's difficult to understand. I flip the page to find a beautiful hand-painted illustration. It is a depiction of the Moon Goddess. There's a man standing next to her that looks like a king. They are surrounded by children. She is holding a baby in her arms with gray hair and violet eyes. The title on the next page says 'Menae - Children of Selene'. No freaking way.
