Greek Mythology Books For 10 Year-olds Novelas e Histórias

I never really believed they happened, I took them for just that, stories. When I came of age, and my wolf emerged, my father showed me what he had discovered on the trip I remembered. A book, hand-written in seven distinctive styles of writing. I recognised the alphabet instantly, having been taught to read, write, and speak Mycenaean Greek since my early childhood. The words on the page made as much sense to me as if they were written in plain English.

I say, "Something that no-one else knows...." She twists to look up at me, forehead puckering. ".... And my favourites were always the old myths and fairy tales; stories about Greek and Roman and Egyptian gods, Norse warriors and ice giants in the north, Hans Christian Anderson, Brothers Grimm, all that sort of thing....

“My daughter, my demi-god.” I’m a demi-god? … pft Ahahaha kidding. I have always been interested in Greek Mythology but I don’t know much about them except of course the famous 12 olympians and my favorite was Athena of course, who wouldn’t? I have watched Percy Jackson, Troy, and Hercules. They really are awesome. Ack. It’s quite heavy, jeez. I picked it up and went to a table near the shelf. I started to read from the start and find it quite interesting. There are stories about the major gods and goddesses, and some stories about mortals. Most of them were love stories though.

“No way. Pretty boy like you I’m sure you cracked your first nut at what, twelve?” I pick up one of the textbooks I purchased this afternoon as exhibit #1. It’s about 4” thick with tissue-thin pages. “The Great Speeches of Ancient Greece by Thucydides” is scrawled across the spine, in Greek. Pushing my wire-thin glasses up the bridge of my nose in emphasis I say “Nerd. Remember.”

“Do you still pretend to be in different places?” “When I read, I do. It’s the cheapest way to travel.” “So why is Greece your first choice?” She shrugged. “I went through a period when I was sixteen where I read a lot of Greek literature. I was fascinated with the mythology which is interwoven into a lot of their work. I noticed that you are reading The Iliad. When I read that three years ago, I had difficulty getting through the description of every soldier that was dying, but once the focus of the book changed to Achilles and Hector and how the Greek gods were influencing the Trojan War, I couldn’t put it down. I will say that the Greeks were very creative.”

Kas squeals and stands up, preventing Bronx from taking another dig at me. “Menae? Hmm. I saw something about that in a more recent book. Let me go get it.” Reggie looks at the page in Kas’s book then gets a book he was looking at. “The Menae are fifty children of the Moon Goddess and the human king Endymion. Modern times say they represent the fifty months of the four-year Olympiad cycle.”

’ I snorted making the librarian glare at me and giving her an apologetic smile I looked back at Ethan and said, ‘Well I will go now and remember don’t let anyone know and especially don’t tell Cain. Giving me a two-finger salute and with a nod, he immediately left the library as I smiled at his retreating figure. Turning around I sighed looking at the towers of books that I had to look through and already feeling irked I dragged myself towards the shelves that were dedicated to myths and mythologies. Finding a few books on ancient myths related to the moon goddess and a few on demons I carried the books to an open and single round table in one corner of the room. There I spread out the book

Then suddenly I remembered what my father said when he gave me the sword. "My dear, always remember that this sword is special because it came from the Greek god Ares who is the God Of War. He made this sword himself" father said "But father, it looks like an ordinary sword. How can it be special aside from the God of War Ares is the one who gave and made it?" I asked "Just concentrate and think about what you want and it will be the thing you wanted it to become," father answered Right! That's it! Now I understand that! I immediately raised my sword and closed my eyes and concentrated.

Most of the pages in the front were smudged too terribly to read anything but once it became legible, I started to shake with happiness. It was a story book! Eagerly I began reading the first story that wasn't destroyed. MY mouth dropped open in wonder at this finding. It was a shadow elf storybook, and a very old one. Page after page I flipped through the words absorbing every word that I could. The stories were full of ghastly creatures similar to the ghoulcat and the heroes of ancient Gwathendor who fought them. And their lady loves that they saved along the way. Soon enough I was hunched over the bed with the little book in my lap and my head in the clouds.

“Because you’re one spitfire of a lycan.” “It’s the Greek translation of the word,” she continued. “There are books in the library written in Greek. They’re yours, aren’t they?” “Yes.” “I could tell some things from the pictures and a few words looked familiar. I think I’d like to know what they say.” She paused momentarily. “I read the book about your family.”
