"I should have known you were behind this." The dark figure smiled. "Nyx, please. We're family. And family should stick together, don't you think?" Austin looked between the two identical women. "Who is Nyx?" Selene's voice was heavy with sadness. "She's my twin sister. The Goddess of Darkness."

The houses around me are getting bigger and more luxurious the more we ride up the mountain. Ruth's POV When I faced Nyx, I could feel the power of the moon goddess dominating all over me. I knew that I had to be careful, for Nyx is proving more powerful. "So, you think you can defeat me?" Nyx sneered, her eyes flashing with amusement. "I am the goddess of night, and I will not be easily defeated." I stood tall, my heart pounding with excitement. "I am Ruth, the last living heir of the moon goddess," I said. "And I will not back down."

"True but you see Narek, Nyx is a special breed. I have told you someday about the prophecy behind her birth, haven't I?" I gave her a small nod and she continued, "Nyx's blood is strong enough to open up the gateway to ultimate power. This is what every power hungry or greedy supernatural desires and Nyx has what it takes to make it a reality. Her blood has been proven potent for ages and that is why she has been protected up until now" she explained. My head bobbed in understanding, "This makes so much sense but how do you know she is truly safe" I expressed my worry and Miss Pendleton sagged into her sit.

The parchment was old, the edges frayed, but the symbols were clear. “This,” she said, pointing to a passage written in an ancient dialect, “is about Nyxia.” The name sent a chill down my spine. Killian’s letter had mentioned it, and now hearing it from Selena made it feel even more ominous. “She’s not just a name,” Selena continued. “Nyxia is... was a rival to the Moon Goddess.
