’ Alec shouts and pulls me behind him. He summons a dark mist that flies toward the Harpy. It ravels around her, closing her white wings, and making her fall to the ground, but another Harpy with black wings strikes Alec. His shadow power dissipates from around the other Harpy. I kneel over Alec as he holds his bleeding arm. I raise my hands towards the now freed Harpy, coming toward us, ‘Repeliate!’ I shout. She is thrown back against the tree with great force. Reaper flies around the black-winged Harpy and uses the same power as Alec causing a shadow to wrap around her. She falls to the ground.

“Then we fight. I won’t run.” Ryan’s lips curved into a faint, approving smile. “That’s the spirit. But remember you’re not alone. I’ll be right here.” As the sun struggled to pierce the mist, figures began to emerge from the forest. The Shadowborn had returned, larger in number, their shapes more terrifying and grotesque than the night before. Limbs stretched at impossible angles, faces half formed, eyes glowing a malevolent violet. They advanced like a living tide, silent and deliberate, yet brimming with lethal intent.

Their path led them to a massive shadowy fortress, its walls seemingly made of solidified darkness. “The Shadow Relic is inside,” Allan confirmed. “But we need to be careful. This fortress is heavily guarded.” As they approached the fortress, they encountered more wraiths, their attacks becoming more coordinated and intense. The team fought with everything they had, their powers pushing back the relentless assault. Kai’s eyes blazed with determination as he led the charge into the fortress. The interior was a labyrinth of shadowy corridors and shifting walls, designed to confuse and disorient. Allan’s shadow manipulation guided them, his control over the darkness creating a clear path.

She ran to her kitchen and got herself some water in the mug, and walked through her window leisurely, as in enjoying a cup of warm tea. She opened the curtains and looked around but found no one. She opened the window and stretched her arms, making it look completely normal, while she silently placed the small camera right outside her window, at its edge. She closed her curtains and immediately ran to her room and opened her laptop to see the movements around her window. Her gaze never moved from the screen, but found nothing suspicious. The lights in the room seemed to fade, and the children faded around her: Everything disappeared, and she was left alone in that cold, dark room. The metallic smell of blood laced through the room, and she turned around to be surrounded by the ghost of those children. They were covered in blood. Some of their arms and legs twisted abnormally and some sustained deep wounds. She wanted to run, but she couldn’t. Her feet were glued to where she stood. They all neared her in that circle, they wanted to hurt her: They walked closer to her. Closer: Closer:

The darkness loomed around them like a cloak. Sekhmet carried an old-fashioned torch he pulled from a hole in the wall to light the way. It was a bit theatric and unnecessary, considering vampires and werewolves alike could see in the dark. But it set the mood for torture nicely; causing shadows to dance across the walls. A bleeding.

And now I knew that the reaper was, finally, knocking at my door. “Come in daughter, I have been expecting you.” I call out to the shadow that lurked behind me. The mirror image of a woman from my past that still lurked in my deepest thoughts and memories. The same woman who would have had me killed, but I managed to get to first…

I must keep going, even though I am exhausted and sweating, because this is the only way I can win. Then I hear it—a noise behind me, a rustle. I tighten my grip on the hilt. “Who’s there?” I whisper, turning slowly. The forest answers with silence. But then—I saw a shadow between the trees. Someone is watching me. For the first time since my seventh rebirth, I realize I may not be the only one with memories.

I called Morrison, gave her the address, and promised to wait for backup. Then I did not wait. Lily followed me to the building entrance, bat raised like she actually knew how to use it. The door was unlocked. Not forced open, just unlocked. Like someone wanted us to walk inside. "This is a trap," Lily whispered. "I know. But we are walking into it anyway." The interior was worse than the exterior. Collapsed floors, exposed beams, the smell of rot and rust. And underneath it all, something metallic and fresh. Blood. I followed the scent, my phone flashlight cutting through darkness. The trail led down a hallway, then to a staircase descending into what looked like a basement.

The witches closed in, their laughter echoing like a chorus of nightmares. Something inside Aqua snapped. A surge of dark energy, unfamiliar and terrifying, welled up within her. She felt her pendant grow hot against her skin, the clear crystal turning black as smoke. The air around her crackled with raw power as she turned back towards the attackers, her fear morphing into a blinding rage.
