Right now, I’m just acting on instinct. What started as a tease quickly turns into something I actually crave. Santa isn’t charming like the men I usually go for. He’s not my type. But there’s something about him that pulls me in. And since he’s here, right now, right in front of me, he might as well do his job as Santa and grant my wish. That’s what Santa is supposed to do, isn’t it? Make people happy at Christmas by granting their wishes, no matter what they are.

Paunchy, clapped me on the back as I entered, his hand lingering a second too long on my waist. “Gentlemen, meet Selena, our very own Santa's Little Helper! She's here to make your Christmas merry.” Cheers erupted, glasses clinking. I scanned the room, heart picking up speed. These weren't office workers….they looked like execs, the kind who closed deals in backrooms and paid for extras.

“I count my hours in the office until the time I reach you.” Before she could reply the table tumbled before making a harsh squeaking sound and her dangerous stranger was right in front of them who stood radiating a deathly stare at her. “I have been here every night since the last fifteen days expecting just ten minutes of time to dance with you and you cannot give me even that while you can chat for a whole thirty minutes with this Grinch.”

Sandy pounded her chest, taking deep breaths. I was moved too, and felt a lump in my throat as I teared up. "How could such despicable people exist? Why hasn't she died yet?" Sandy vented her resentment. "She's as venomous as a snake! "Since then, he comes back every Christmas to tend to his parents' graves all alone. I accompany him every time. "Everything’s all better now that you're back. Look at him now, he's smiling. He's so handsome when he smiles, isn't he? I dare say he's the most handsome man in the world." Sandy exaggerated, raising her hands.

…Xavien POV… At this time of year, we all get lost in reruns of The Grinch, that god ugly man that comes to steal Christmas. But then there is Scrooge, the ghost of the past, the present, and the future. Well, the question here is, did she come to steal Christmas, or is she a ghost of my past? Whichever one, she is definitely not welcome. My present is firmly in place, and the only woman I see in my future is Mekayla. Yeah, I am being a bit optimistic, but we have become fairly closer tonight...Until now...

Knowing well he would be more infuriated by the nicknames. “My name is William.” He hissed. “W-I-L-L-I-A-M.” “Willy Grinch, Okay, got it. My deepest apologies.” “It’s William,” he yelled, gaining Elijah’s and Amber’s attention “No need to make a scene. We know the Grinch loves attention but no need to scare others, Willy,” she said, laughing herself to fits. “Whatever,” he answered, stuffing his hands in his pockets and leaving the kitchen. William left bothered and retired to his room while she prepared something for her, Amber, and Elijah.

Noelle removed the wrapping and held up a new squeaky toy for Goldie who barked with glee and then took it out of Noelle’s hands to investigate more. Brady reached beneath the tree and pulled out another gift. “This one’s for you, buddy,” he said to Pooch, unwrapping a new bone. The gift had Pooch giddy with excitement. He took it and dragged it across the floor, already gnawing on the end. “What about me?” Noelle asked. “Where’s my one Christmas Eve present?” “Didn’t you already open one at your mom’s house?” Brady asked, a twinkle in his eye.

He was tall, really tall for a Santa Claus, that I had to tilt my head back to meet his eyes—oh, his eyes. They were an icy gray that seemed to bare my soul, uncovering every hidden secret before his eyes. I felt a cold shiver run down my spine, but I couldn't tell if it was from the cold or the way those eyes made me feel, something so distinct yet I couldn't put my hands on it. “Merry Christmas,” he murmured, his deep baritone causing my heart to thrum so loudly in my chest I could only stand there and gawk like a damn fool.

Just then, I received a call from Gregory. "Hey buddy what's up" he said. "Hey Greg. Good morning and merry Christmas" "Merry Christmas buddy, how is Samantha and Lana" he said. "All good. Samantha is helping Lana get ready for the party" "Ok, don't worry Freddie everything is going to be alright" he said. "I hope so, thanks. Greetings to Betty and the kids". "Sure, see you soon". "And you too" I said, cutting the call. "Hopefully, all will go well" I muttered.

"I feel sorry for the detectives who were busy sealing up the factory. It isn't the doing of a mortal so it will be a futile attempt." "Maybe you should try to have a little faith, they might find something that might be of help, you know?" Griffin packed the car right in front of the quarter and rubbed his hands together. "Yeah, you are right." I leaned forward to him while admiring his features. "Tonight was a rollercoaster, it started of crazily and blossomed into this." He yawned tiredly and grinned. He had an open tooth with a wide gap at the middle. "I like the term blossomed and I hope to keep in touch with you, Grinch." I smiled brightly at him while my hair cascaded and fell right a
