I tore open two pieces and threw the orange colored candies into my mouth and was pleased that it didn’t have a horrible taste like I had first started to unconsciously anticipated. I’m on my second bite when I realise it tastes a little funny; it's sour when it should be sweet and there’s a weird grainy texture to it. I quickly spit the chewed piece of apple into my palm and carefully inspect the saliva-covered mush. I can’t see anything out of place but my vision is starting to get a little fuzzy and the room is quickly heating up.

“It’ll help with the pain.” He pushed the bar into my mouth again. “It also helps with inflammation, and promotes healing. Suck on it for a while, and the pain will stop.” I gagged as it pressed against the back of my throat. “Ngh.” “It’s uncomfortable?” Lucius’s voice was a husky murmur. “Sorry, it can’t be helped. Imagine you’re sucking a big lollipop. Or a popsicle.” The bar slid back half an inch before gliding back in.

Sam's POV My head is spinning. I wonder if I'm catching a cold... or the stomach flu? My tummy suddenly feels heavy, and it wasn't to empty everything out on the floor. Where is this sour taste coming from? I rush to brush my teeth, hoping it will remove the taste, and it helps... sort of. But it isn't my mouth that the taste is coming from. I can still taste it when I breathe, and its twisting my stomach in knots.

Every time the door opened, my ears perked up to hear his deep voice but it was never him. The nurses visited frequently to ensure I was fine and gave me medicines. Soup was served at lunch and it was a struggle to swallow it down my throat. Dr. Alina informed me that the bad taste in the mouth was a common side effect of certain medicines. That’s why everything tasted bitter and rotten.

Olivia I woke up with an unpleasant taste in my mouth which caused me to frown deeply. It felt like I was chewing on sand and pup medicine mixed with breast milk although, I wasn't sure if the third taste in my mouth was breast milk. But all three was the worst combination ever. I tried to sit up but regretted it immediately as a pain shot up my spine to my brain. I couldn't quite explain it but it was electrifying enough for me to return to my former position as quickly as possible.

My foot still stings but it wasn’t as painful as earlier, maybe it’s starting to heal. I took a loaf of bread and tasted it. My taste buds were disappointed as I chewed disfavorably.
