I was barely three miles into the Black Woods when the first howl echoed behind me. It wasn't a warning. It was a kill-call. "They couldn't even wait until sunrise," I hissed, tripping over a root. "Why wait for the sun when the moon is so bright?" A voice mocked from the canopy above. A massive gray wolf plummeted from the trees, shifting mid-air. It was Kael, Fenris’s Beta and his loyal lapdog. He stood there, naked and grinning, his muscles rippling with predatory intent.

I recalled all the times I had missed the chance to meet Hailey, the curiosity that had grown in me because of her, and most of all, the way my wolf reacted whenever her name came up in conversation even when I didn’t know who she was. Now, I finally understood. The reason my wolf had always reacted to the name “Hailey” was because it recognized its mate. Because Haliyah was the only woman who had ever affected me that way. She was the “charming woman” Ford had been fascinated with. Hailey… is Haliyah. The mysterious woman I had been unconsciously drawn to was Haliyah all along. The smell of rotten eggs flooded all my senses, and I knew the rogues were close.

I whispered back, folding my arm under my head. “Cal hasn’t watched the jungle book So here we are. Join us.” “Yes, Mommy, Join us. It's great and you will love it. The wolves are big big ones… very massive like Hazel. They have Hazel’s fur too,” Cal rattled in excitement bouncing up and down. “Come on mummy. I will show you Mowgli. And we heard some rushling sound from other direction in the wood. I smelled his scent approached. "Chloe!" Alpha Cillian called out to me. In his shoulder, he bought a wild boar just like the other man behind him. My eyes set on him. On his smiling face. With the light from the bonfire, he looked so free and handsome. I think this is my first time looking at someone as powerful and as pretty as him. Lana stood, so as the three girls by the bonfire. It seemed like they will make the dinner so I stood up on my feet to help.

He landed as a colossal silver wolf, his claws ripping through the stone. "ENOUGH!" he bellowed. The wolves stood frozen, the rogues retreated, and even the smoke momentarily paused. Then, A woman cloaked in gray emerged from the treeline. Her eyes were devoid of color. Blood on her hands. The persistent whistle resonated within her throat. “Witch,” Amalia whispered. “Seize her!” Hale commanded. Wolves surged forward. Talia instinctively reached into her pouch, scattering salt and herbs. Smoke erupted across the witch’s face. She gagged, choking, her momentum faltering—
