Half-human Half-bird Novels & Stories

"Let's see. Born in August 1995 in South Carolina, she lived with her mum and brother there up until 2014 when they relocated to San Francisco. Seems like her father was never in the picture." He sipped his smoothie. "Her mother works as a nurse. Her half-brother is married and he runs a small-scale company. You've both worked on a project together. Didn't end well I take it since he left a negative review on the company's website. Something about you being a big ******* and *******"

I was their prey. They smiled to my face while spreading whispers behind my back. "She's a filthy half-blood," they said. "Just a mutt for anyone to use." Reine, the eldest, often cornered me, his gaze soft, his voice dripping with sweetness. "I want to be your mate," he'd murmur, a hand brushing my hair. Ethan, the second brother, had his own games. He'd make a mess of his sheets on purpose, just to call me in to clean.

“You’re kind of awesome, you know.” “Don’t let that get around,” I tease. “I’ve got a reputation for being only half-tame.” We both laugh, and Tyler barks like he’s seconding the motion. The bass hums through the walls behind us, but out here, it feels like everything’s slowing down just enough to remember it.

“I’m punishing my disrespectful little niece.” And then Rebecca stood in front of me. The color drained from my face as I stared at her. Our kind were known as half humans and half wolves, but we could either shift into full wolves or remain as humans. But the Rebecca in front of me was neither a wolf nor a human, but both of them at once.

“Is it fiction, Lexus?” “Mostly, they seem to know a few things, but it’s limited. I think it’s more relevant to half breeds. If we did in fact used to breed with them on occasion. It seems they were more vulnerable. Though we are also nocturnal, I’ve never known someone who turned to ash due to exposure to the sun,” Lexus scoffed with a hard roll of his eyes. “A halfling would make sense. Their cellular composition would have been unstable due to their genetics. Could also explain the craving for human blood, being as they were half and we feed from our own kind,” His father pointed out plainly.

"You are a half-blood, Elif. Torn between two worlds. Too human for the wolves. Too wolf for the humans. You've spent your entire life feeling like an error." My throat tightened. "How do you know that?" "Because I once walked in your shoes. I am also a half-blood." He sat on a fallen log, gesturing for me to join him. "I lead because I am a half-blood, not in spite of it." He scooped up a handful of soil, letting it sift through his fingers. "The purebloods deem us inferior. Broken. But they are mistaken. We are not broken, Elif. We are bridges."

The bodies, some of which were forty eight hours old, were piled like offerings before a pagan alter. There were at least fifty of them. Blood had seeped down onto the floor. Coaster's best friend, Jane Hopskins, lay on her back. Insects crawled in and out of her mouth. A servo whined. The tech looked up, and there was Davide. The quad looked like what he was - a monster. Some poor slob had spent hours on the huge, glaring eyes, the wide, grinning mouth, and the rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Alicia asked, excitedly. “What?” The boy was confused. "I recognize that bird." "Which bird?" "It was Ataraxia!" Ataraxia was a mythical bird that only appeared in myths. The same thing happened in Coulson. They, too, had a mythical bird named Myastra. Myastra was a half-god, half-human who lived between the human and divine realms. It was no different than any other bird in the human world. Because mythical birds were frequently threatened, they would grant the person who saved their lives one wish.

They emerged into the Half-Market. It was a cavernous sprawl that defied every law of human architecture. Above them, the "ceiling" was a swirling vortex of deep indigos and shimmering greens, an internal aurora borealis that Sophie couldn't stop staring at. Flittering lights, small, trapped spirits or perhaps just pockets of concentrated mana, danced like fireflies against the impossible height. "Keep your eyes forward, Soph," Anna warned, her voice barely a whisper. "The Half-Market isn't a place for tourists. People here don't care about the law, but they’re very interested in debt."

He explains gesturing for me to take a seat, the worried feelings start to fester inside of me as he did so, maybe I’ll learn why I have been having these weird dreams, with that thought I take a seat at the table. “If you recall, the doctor spoke about he being surprised to see the results from your blood. He assumed, as like we all that you would only have human blood, but it appears you only have half human blood.” He begins to explain opening up the folder, my face holds confusion as I looked back at him, how can I only have half when I know I’m human? “This is indicating that you have one parent who is full human and the other who is not, the only problem we have is we are unclear at th
