I would wait till the end. It has been weeks since I have drawn someone's cartoon. Perhaps I only do it when I am sad and happy at the same time. This time, I want to draw a cartoon for Remo. The name alone brings calmness to me. I start from his head and then his round eyes.

"Becca," I looked up from my notes and found Hannah standing near my desk with a piece of paper in her hand. "Yes, Hannah," I whispered as the entire classroom was quiet and smiled down at her. She held out the piece of paper to me. I took it from her hands and saw the picture she drew. It was a stick figure of a man, a woman, and a little girl. "That's my dad, then there is me in the middle and," she pointed to the woman, "that's you." she grinned widely and my heart swell with happiness.

Such a childish and girly tantrum. I covered my face. This was truly embarrassing. It was a good thing that I am the only person seeing this. I could not let Lucas know that I have such a habit before! This would be my secret until the day I die! "Mom, look here! I draw myself and mom!" My mother and I looked at the drawing book. There were two stick figures on the paper. The taller stick has long hair and a big smile with very long lashes that expand longer than the ears. While the shorter stick has twig tails and a small smile.

Her drawings were colorful and filled with imagination—trees with faces, dancing stars, houses with wings. “I like to draw happy things,” Anika explained. “Because they make me feel warm inside.” Maya smiled. “They make me feel warm too.” One drawing caught her eye—it was of a woman and a little girl in a garden, holding hands beneath a tree with heart-shaped leaves. “Did you draw this one recently?” Maya asked softly. Anika nodded. “I drew it last week. I didn’t know why, but I felt like I missed someone. I guess it was you.”

Were they just broken and hurting on the inside? Seeing the glee in the tormenter's eyes--she guessed it was more than that. They genuinely seemed to enjoy it. Jacob dropped the folder he'd been clutching onto for dear life and watched in horror as pieces of paper flew in every direction. On closer inspection, Jenna saw the pieces of paper were drawings. And they were amazing. It appeared to be a hand-drawn comic, inked in black and white, completed with speech bubbles and onomatopoeia. The characters looked like anime drawings, with cute faces and big eyes. They were gorgeous.

‘I guess even they noticed the height difference between Dante and me,’ I gave a quiet chuckle. “And this is us and Yuki, and we’re all holding hands.” Three little stick figures, blue, purple, and green, were next to the pink one, along with a weird-looking yellow thing that I guess was Yuki. “It’s beautiful, Nathan. Good job.” I cheered, and he beamed with pride. “Mine next.” Michael shoved his drawing into my hand, and I took his and Leon’s. They were similar to Nathan’s work, but Michael’s was more wonky, and the height difference was less dramatic. Leon’s drawing was the neatest, with a big red heart around us.

“I drawed this for Miwella!” Mirella leaned closer, her eyes wide. “Wow!” she exclaimed with theatrical awe, taking the drawing. It was a bit scribbled, with lines overlapping and colors outside the borders. But amidst the wild pinks and greens, was clearly a giant flower with a happy sun in the corner. “This is a really pretty drawing,” Kaliyah added sincerely, smiling at Lani. The little girl beamed and swayed from side to side proudly. Then she tilted her head, staring up at Kaliyah.

There’s something scribbled onto it and my brows furrowed as I tried to make a guess of it. I had no freaking idea whatever the hell he just drew but I smiled anyway and shifted my gaze back to him. “What is it, baby?” I asked, genuinely curious to know what that misshaped drawing that vaguely looked like a round-shaped face with… hair? sticking out of it from every angle. “Papa!” Kian answered enthusiastically and he pushed up the small sketch book into my face for a clearer view, like he thought I couldn't see it properly. The smile drained from my face and my heart momentarily skipped a beat at his words.

All they did in my class was practice adding and subtracting. Mom got a funny look on her face when I told her that I like to draw during math. While the other kids werre counting on their fingers I would pretend to be working in my workbook. Truthfully, I was sketching. I had some cool drawings in that workbook, hidden way in the back. I like to draw weather events, uncontrolled power unleashed on unsuspecting souls. I liked hurricanes and tornadoes the best. I loved the power a storm generated. The inevitable destruction it would cause was fun to try to put on paper. Sometimes I would see a storm raging in my mind and I could barely draw fast enough to get all the details on the page

"You're back! Look what I made!" I dropped to my knees and caught him in my arms, lifting him into a tight hug. The scent of baby powder and clean clothes instantly made all the lingering stress leave my muscles. "Oh, sweetie! Let me see. What did you draw?" Leo held up the paper proudly. It was a drawing of a big blue boat on a wavy green sea, with a very tall man, a woman, and a little boy standing on the deck. The tall man had black hair, just like Julian.
