She leaned down, her silk dress brushing against my shoulder, and pressed a deep, lingering kiss to my lips. "Still working, honey?" she whispered, her arms wrapping around my neck. "Don't forget about the business gala tonight." I pulled her closer, breathing in her scent. My life with Daphne was everything I had ever wanted. She was beautiful, vibrant, and she made me feel alive. Our eight years of marriage had been happy.

She began laughing, and this time, her laughter became more and more hysterical. "William, even if you get rid of me, Daphne still won't get back with you.
