“Johnny get your wrinkly self over here, your stupid bell is not working again!” Icahbod frowed. “Is a woman bearing the name Johnny in this century?” “No, why would you ask that?” “You said we were coming to meet a woman.” “Oh yea, he is the one who will bring her to us, she is his daughter but you have to see the father first.” “Oh, ok.” Minutes later, Ichabod could hear a swift movement behind the shelves and out came a short man in a black tail coat and a large hat which made him look like all those wizards you see in movies like Harry Potter.

"Elif Demir." I turned. A man stood in the shadows. I hadn't seen him before, but now I couldn't look away. He was tall, broad-shouldered. His face was weathered, lined with scars and something darker. His eyes were black—completely black, with no iris, no pupil, no humanity. "Who are you?" I asked. He stepped into the light. His clothes were ragged, stained. His hair was long and matted. Around his neck, he wore a necklace of wolf teeth. Dozens of them.

I can still smell his scent and apple-mint breath. Bell goes off for lunch, I rush to the photography-club room, where he wouldn’t find me. I should just keep myself busy. It should help keep him out of my head. I open my laptop and start scrolling through the picture of the members of the club. So far, I’ve gotten twenty students to apply, and most of them are crushing on Arthur. I knew having him in the club would mean more members. Madelyn looks at me and I smile at her, making her blush. “So, what movie are we watching?” I ask taking the focus off of her. “Well, I think my mate needs to learn what it means to be a Gryffindor, don’t you?” Maeve asks. “Harry Potter it is! I’ll make the popcorn,” I say, showing Madelyn where to sit and grabbing a blanket off a chair to give to her. I don’t know if she’s still cold, but in case she is, I want to make sure she’s warm.
