Slow applause echoes from the mist.
“Well,” Corvin says, stepping into view like he owns the fog, “that’s new, last time I saw you, you were begging me not to leave you behind.”
He looks the same, too clean, too sharp, not a scar on him that wasn’t intentional. His coat is darker now, reinforced at the seams with sigils I recognize and don’t like.
“I stopped begging,” I replied. “You should’ve noticed.”
He smiles, eyes flicking to the rising structures behind me. “Hard not to, you’ve upgraded.”
