A Decayed Rose

A Decayed Rose

Alina was one hundred percent certain, so certain in fact that she would bet away her soul, that her house was haunted. Sitting with an expression void of emotion, Alina rested her brown irises on the resin rose settled neatly on her nightstand amongst the dust gathered there from her constant neglect. To any person that wasn't Alina, there would be absolutely nothing amiss about the beautiful ornament staring innocently back at her. But there was something horribly wrong with the picture, something Alina had been noticing a lot with the objects residing within the smothering walls of her home; the rose wasn't where she had last put it.

Midnight Horror Show

Midnight Horror Show

The Invisible Man. The librarian smiled. “Oh, yes,” she chuckled. “For Halloween, you know.” I thought of James West out for a stroll at midnight in the fog. “You wouldn’t happen to have anything in that index about an old TV show? Saturday Nightmares?” She pursed her lips slightly and walked out from behind the desk to a large wooden cabinet full of small drawers. She glanced at her watch, then pulled out one of the drawers and shuffled through the tiny cards inside, pausing once to pull out a card, then another a few seconds later.

Alice down in demonland: Hells institution for the damned

Alice down in demonland: Hells institution for the damned

I yelled at the demon staring back at me from the television, and grabbed the TV remote by my side and threw the thing at my television, smashing it's glass. My shadows were growing stronger and I could see their cracked reflection along with mine on the smashed television. They smirked and chuckled evilly, knowing just a little more time and they would be at full strength to hunt for victims. Malice and hate filled my expression. "Fuck you! You hear! You will retract!" I yelled at the shadows, and that seemed to enable them as they chuckled harder, sucking from the lack of control at the moment. Suddenly there was a fumbling of metal noise from behind the door. I could hear the low breathin

From The Ashes

From The Ashes

As if the moon goddess was ignoring them. As if the moon goddess turned her back. “Lady Adeline!” A crisp sound of something tearing woke her senses, and yet as soon as she looked up, droplets of fresh blood splattered on her face, numbing her mind. Her irises narrowed as she stared blankly at the clouded eyes of the head of who had once baked the cookies she would sneak in her room at night. Her hands shook and her heart trembled, and despite the haywire in his mind, all she could ever utter out was the name of someone who was no more:

Shadow Pact

Shadow Pact

She'd been right about Paoli. He was an honest-to-God blood sucking vampire. Not really alive, but not dead. He was undead. There was no telling how many innocent people he'd killed. Well, she wasn’t about to be added to his numbers. She jerked the gaudy silver cross from her pocket and shoved it against his forehead.

Iridian

Iridian

The haunting look in Adley’s eyes when she realized what I was doing, the terror that came when I worried I hadn’t been quick enough—and then anguish as I realized I had been. The tip of the blade protruded from her chest, right where her heart was. Ally sucked in a harsh breath as the light filling her insides grew brighter. Her nails shrunk back to their normal length, and the hand wrapped around Adley’s neck fell limp at her side. “…it was always meant to be you, Adley.” Ally whispered in a voice that was purely her own, and then her heart took one last shuddering beat before going silent. Her body began to fade in my hands; starting with her hands and feet and ending with her sky-blue ey

Amy
Such a well written book and the story really drags you in, I’ve enjoyed reading this so much and hope a sequel comes out. I really feel this book should be printed, I’d read it over and over again. The book is long but it’s well worth it.
Therese Dahlqvist
The author has a fantastic ability to keep me on the edge of my seat and a great ability to describe the scenery around the characters. I find the characters to be mostly well defined and consistent throughout the book. There are some typos and incorrect grammar, but not enough to disturb me complet

Alpha King: Please Never let me go

Alpha King: Please Never let me go

Lila RENDAL" That’s horrible. As soon as I went in, the illusion of the house disappeared. Instead, I saw someone sitting in front of a grave. This whole place was a graveyard. What was the point of the house if it would disappear after? The girl was crying so badly. I pitied her, so I wanted to console her, but remember what happened with Robert. You can’t just trust anyone and expect them to give back what you gave them. Just be careful and let her be. She must have cried a lot so she must be done. Don’t go anywhere near her. « Ooooh Adelia, » she cried, « Oooh Adelia. » I couldn’t resist the temptation to console her, so I went to her. The girl was wearing a flimsy rag, she had black hair

Horror Instance: Happy Home

Horror Instance: Happy Home

"Alison, don't cry. This is Mommy's fault. I never should've let you go track down those awful relatives of yours. Anyone who hurt you… Mommy's not letting them get away with it." Her cold glare swept slowly across the crowd. Then it stopped on the groaning gatekeeper and the administrator. "You two. You're the ones who touched her?" Before either ghost could say a word in their defense, my adoptive mother's hair shot straight through their ghost cores… right through their hearts. Those two mid-level ghosts turned to ash on the spot. Meanwhile, the four members of the Bennett family stood there frozen, completely stunned. Their faces were white as a sheet. None of them thought I actually had

Dead Husband's Call: Five Years Too Late

Dead Husband's Call: Five Years Too Late

John stood outside the sanatorium gates for a full four hours. Everyone who passed by would look at him curiously. I let out a long sigh. Just as I was about to go downstairs and settle things with him once and for all, Adaline suddenly appeared. Her hair was a mess. She had a jagged scar on her forehead that wasn't very nice to look at. One of her feet was bare and bleeding after getting scraped raw by the gravel. She left bloody footprints behind her.

Haunting Romantics

Haunting Romantics

Someone who knew him well enough to call him out if he was losing his grip. Caroline agreed to meet him without hesitation. She watched him over her drink as he fidgeted in his seat, pushing food around his plate like it might rearrange itself into an answer. “What’s wrong with you?” she asked finally. Ben took a breath. “I think my house is haunted.” Her eyebrows shot up as she chewed, but he didn’t stop. “The ghost watched me in the shower.” He made a vulgar motion with his hand. She choked. Ben winced but barreled on. “It got quite the show. I mean, full frontal. Very educational.”
