I began to look through the bookshelf some more and came across a book that looked like it did not belong here. Ahah! I opened the book to find, yet again, some blank pages. I surfaced my wolf and extended my claws before I pricked myself and allowed some blood to drop onto the pages. Nothing happened. Damn it. As I was about to shut the book, blood from my mother which got onto my palm when I was lifting her from the wall, accidentally smeared itself on the book. The book glowed again and soon enough I was back in Adelina’s bedroom. Huh.

Dad certainly wouldn’t take her in, so unless she was ready to do fight for survival at Lila’s house, she could be homeless. The moment we were in her room, the door slapped behind us. Adeline stood beside it, one hand on her waist while her foot tapped furiously against the marble floor. “Now, what exactly was it I was supposed to hear?” She grunted. “Adeline, it might have started as revenge. I know it doesn’t even make it any better.” I dropped her bags gently beside her bed. I wanted her to see I meant every word, but I couldn’t look at her, not when she stared me down like she was ready to eye laser through me. The worst part was the disgust in her eyes.

Adeline waited, for a moment, and when we finally heard the sound of rustling leaves and snapping branches, our hackles lifted, eyes on full alert as she lowered her mouth to the ground.

Vaelora Fuck! 'Haunting Adeline' caused all these. It rewired my brain in ways I still don’t understand. And now, I don't know if I love being stalked or if I hated it. Well, if I'm to analyse it.. if I try to be honest with myself I loved the thrill I read from the story when Adeline was being stalked by Zade. The way he watched Adeline, the way his presence was always there, heavy and intoxicating. It made my pulse race. Yet, I hated the fact that her stalker got eery and eery every freaking page I flipped. Like dude, either step into the light or crawl back into whatever shadow you crawled out of.

Adelina had had her own agenda since the start. If I didn’t live in a heavily guarded compound such as the Ethereal packhouse, she would’ve stolen the Book of the Damned as well. Perhaps she was currently cultivating her plan and waiting for the right time to put it in motion. With a flick of my wrist, I summoned a ball of red smoke and placed my hand on the front cover of the book. I wasn’t entirely sure what I was doing, but I was hoping I could charm the book to prevent Adelina from stealing it. I lifted my hand and was satisfied to see that the red smoke stuck to the book like a second skin.

She was screwed, that's for sure. After Odette left, Adeline looked around the bedroom. It was large and had a lot of things to entertain herself with. There was an Amazon Kindle sitting next to a huge flat-screen TV hidden behind some drapes. Adeline turned on the TV and saw it had all the streaming services. She looked through the Kindle, and it was loaded with thousands of books. There were several bookshelves loaded with books too, but they looked untouched, like no one had ever read them. What a beautiful prison, perfect for a princess in a tower! Adeline was amazed. Was that what Damien imagined she was? No, she was his bought-and-paid-for whore in a tower and she'd do well to remember

Once again, Adaline shook her head. Adaline tried to stand up, but her knees felt too weak. Without being asked, Altezza helped her. The man carried her back into the room and sat her down on the bed. "My bag," Adaline requested, pointing towards where she kept her bag. Altezza frowned, but he did as Adaline asked. Adaline handed him a small blue-covered book. Altezza's forehead furrowed even more. "What's this?" he asked, confused. Without waiting for an answer, he slowly opened the book. A black and white photo and the doctor's writing greeted his eyes. "This...?" Altezza stared at the book, then at his wife in turns.

It wasn’t confirmed yet, but in our world, it wasn’t impossible either, especially when that man made a deal with the devil or was the devil himself. We ended the day. Hendrix and Hunt went back to their work while we drove back to the pack house after we made sure that Milka was fully recovered. She was supposed to go home, but she insisted on coming with me. I thought it was because she wanted me to come to her when I was pulled into Kaiser’s world, but I was wrong. “I saw you, Adeline,” she said after I closed the door when we entered my room. “What?” I asked, “I saw you standing next to the man who was found dead at your border.”
