Lucky there’s nothing deep needing stitches. In my grieving and broken state, I begin to feel faint. I let myself go and pass out. Opening my eyes I feel myself transported into another realm. Standing in front of me is my grandmother’s house which stands in front of a looming property which I dare not go near. The “LeFleur” mansion. A place said to belong to my ancestors from centuries ago. A place that continues to haunt my dreams since a child. Something about this place calls to my soul, it pulls me and begs me to return. The house stands in the Normandy countryside. She feels it in the wind and air, she feels it in the depths of the earth, it’s as if a spirit like a piece of me is locke

I slammed my mind walls shut, he clearly needed time to chill, and I needed the space to breathe. This was the torment I had been dealing with ever since I met Adeline in my literature class a week ago. Dax had been making my life a living hell with his relentless demands to mate and mark her. Heck, I couldn't even remember how many times he had forced me to run to her window under the cover of night, just to be close enough to inhale that intoxicating scent of hers. It was the only thing keeping him sane, that, and a brutal spar with some of the pack warriors.

I watched him drive away again. I thought it was prudent to follow my routine to the T. Get up, have breakfast, go to college, have David tell Adeline everything—how it was supposed to be. Or rather, how Adeline wanted it to be. I would stay in her sight at all times. The moment Patronus was out of danger, all it would take was a jump from the balcony, and I would be free. Sounds easy, but I wouldn’t be here if it were that simple. The moment I stepped foot in Anderson Mansion, Adeline was waiting in the lobby with a sour, twisted expression, fuming. Killian’s prank hadn’t aged well.

“Then we go to her.” Jeremy grabbed his car keys. “Let’s go.” – – – Alfred and Aunt Favy arrived at a quiet neighborhood. They parked in front of a small, well-kept house with a garden of yellow roses. “This is it,” Favy said. Alfred stepped out of the car and knocked firmly on the door. After a moment, an elderly woman with silver hair and kind but wary eyes opened the door opened slightly. “Mrs. Adeline?” Alfred asked. The woman hesitated. “Who’s asking?”

Gabriel asks me in disbelief. " Yes. I'll explain more once we get home but for now we are going to get my mate." We get into the SUV and head towards the hotel to pick up Gabriel's mate Maya. Once she gets in we head towards the directs on Adeline's house. It's takes about 20 minutes from the hotel to her house in the woods. It's a nice one story house that's black on the outside with dark walnut wood complimenting the design of her home. She has flower boxes on her windows filled with plumeria flowers. There's a garden growing in her backyard and it all reminds me of my grandma's cottage. "This place is beautiful." Maya says with her eyes wide full of admiration.

Adeline’s pov I tried not to cry again. This was something my tear ducts were used to, it was almost a routine to watch it dry up and so I sucked in the tears and thought happy thoughts. Thoughts that comprised of the good old earlier days. Looking back to the sequence of events which brought me to that house of brooding mystery, of sinister undercurrents and disturbing echoes. I sat on a wooden bench I had found as I became lost in thought all alone in the darkness.

‎" Oh those.... Well I told them to burn everything you brought from your house and fill your wardrobe with new attires. What? ‎"You ...mean everything I brought" ‎"Look Adeline.... You're no more the girl you used to be. You're married to a business man who has a reputation to uphold I expect you as my wife to support that" he smiled but the smile wasn't a nice one. It made my blood boil and freeze. ‎" Yeah....I uh... understand" I don't know why but I couldn't think straight it was like this was just a nightmare that I'll wake up from soon.

He fought against the pack members, but with the help of my team, they could lead him away. “Is Alpha Rawlins inside?” I asked one of the guards that remained behind. “Yes, he is in his office waiting for you.” I nodded and headed inside. The mansion reminded me of a hunting lodge; the outside was all made from brick and logs and inside the theme was the same, making you feel like you were in a giant log cabin. In a way, it reminded me of home. Large couches sat in the living room and an enormous stone fireplace was in the center of the far wall. The second floor overlooked the living area. I headed upstairs to where the Alpha's office was and knocked on the door.

And strangely, I didn’t feel any attraction towards her. I wasn’t sure if it had faded over time since it was a stupid infatuation or if was it replaced by someone more…important? I walked out of the manor and found the ‘more important.’ Adeline stood before the birds with a bowl of grain in her hand, and she fed them. The birds seemed to be flocking around her as if she was snow white. Her lips moved as she looked at one of them. Was she talking to them? I moved closer to listen in.

Logan says and we grin back before he heads for the stairs. "Are you not going to bed with Karina? She is in a guest room upstairs," Adeline asks, and we shake our head. "It's been a while since I got to see you. How have you been," we ask, and she actually blushes. "Much better. I didn't know life could be so peaceful," she answers, and we smile. "Good. Are you leaving the pack house at all," we ask and she nods. "Chloe and I take walks. It's nice. No one has even looked at me wrong. I still get scared and my nightmares are still pretty rough, but you know," Adeline replies with a small shrug and we nod.
