Heart-wrenching Books Novels & Stories

I open the box, and pull out the first book, and I frown even harder because it is titled - Your Dad Will Do, by a Katee Robert. Feeling realy confused, I pull out the second - Priest, by a Sierra Simone, these books are giving me a certain vibe. I pull out another, laughing at the incredulous title - Does It Hurt, by an H.D Carlton, feeling really curious, I open a random page, and frown as I try to make sense of the scene. I gasp as I begin to make sense of it, my mouth falls open at the full realization of what it actually is, the book falls out of my hand with a resounding thud.

“There were so many good books at the library. Why did you have to choose a book with a trope like that, Melinda?” He spread out a few books in front of me as he continued; pointing to each one of them as he spoke, “You could have chosen a book loaded with humor to make you laugh; or science fiction story that explores the vastness of the universe; or, you could have chosen a book where the main leads live a long, happy life surrounded by loved one.” He threw up his hands in frustration. “But, NO. You had to choose a heart-breaking story that will shatter your soul and make you cry.” “Why are you over reacting like this Kain?” I held my head and sighed. “It is just a novel.”

Trembling, I stepped toward the door, only to find the final blow waiting for me in the hallway. My books. Ripped. Shredded. Tossed like garbage across the stone floors. Some of them were just paper, yes, but they were mine. Stories that helped me escape. Words that had comforted me when I was a prisoner in my own life. And now they were nothing but torn covers and crumpled pages. The one my mother gave me before she died, the one I kept hidden beneath my pillow, was missing entirely. I didn’t know what hurt more… the violation, or the aching void it left behind.

The operating room doors closed like the final page of a book. In an instant, Yvonne and I were cut apart, as though we had been pushed into two different worlds. I wanted to laugh, but something caught in my throat. A metallic taste spread through my mouth, and something darker, heavier, sank inside my chest. Hopelessness was growing in me. I stood behind the hose cabinet like a broken statue for what felt like an eternity. By the time the doors finally opened again, the wind had already dried my tears.

Najmah snapped her book shut then fastened her seat belt, staring out of the window. She had a phobia for flights, so she spent the whole flight duration reading one of the many books she had brought together with her; "Lie to me, Dan by Longrin Wetten″ which happened to be one of her favorites.

I had another hour before my next class so I just decided to go to the library and wait there because staying in one place somehow eases the pain. I walked into the library with a cup of black coffee in my hand. I walked to a quiet and secluded place and sat on a chair. I took a deep breath as I drank from my coffee. I took out my favorite book, The Notebook, from my bag and placed it on the desk. I can't count the number of times I had read the book. It has so much behind it, love, pain, sorrow, loss and grief. I cried the first time I read the book. I also cried the first time I watched the movie.
