With that, he bows deeply and scampers off with a hopeful smile. I shake my head, sighing to myself and getting dressed before heading to the gym, where I’m sure Heather would be. She has a habit of training when everyone is asleep and at peace, because she believes that’s when her energies align.
Sure enough, she’s there throwing knives at a beaten-up punching bag. At first, she doesn’t notice that I’m there, but when I get close enough to the ring, she throws a knife at my direction out of instinct.
