Tony I felt like the ground had been ripped out from under me, and I realized that her sickness and whatever treatments she’d been taking had to be what that scent in her blood was. It had been sheer luck that Quillan had been born, luck that he had an incident that would lead him here, luck that Ginevra was brought here. I didn’t know what to say. Her eyes were the color of copper and her skin was as pale as the silver moonlight. There was a red scar stretched from her forehead down her cheek, which completely blinded her left eye. My mind was distracted from studying the small, cramped place that smelled of fresh herbs and spices.

She was so angry that she tried to hit me with her hand, but I was able to get out of the way just in time. “Stop it!” I yelled, but I didn’t even call my wolf to help me defend myself, so she ended up grabbing my hand with all of her strength and slamming my head against the wall instead of obeying my command.
