“They are here—“he said again, this time with a desperate voice now.
“They are not,” Fenris replied evenly.
The wolf’s breathe hitched.
“You are fighting it, that’s what it is,” Fenris said.
The words settled into the space like an explanation that didn’t need to be questioned.
“This is part of the process, the body is rejecting the object that’s been inside it,” Fenris continued, reaching for a prepared mixture beside him.
The mixture was pressed into the skin slowly, deliberately. The wolf reacted immediately, his body tightening, breath catching as though something inside him resisted the contact.
