The rain hadn’t stopped for days. It drummed endlessly on the stone roof of the old library tower where Rhea had hidden herself, muffling the world into a soft, oppressive hush. The air was damp and heavy, curling around her like a shroud. The cracked window beside her wept with condensation, the glass trembling with every gust of wind that rattled against it.

“No fucking way. Is that what I think it is?” The little droplets of rain falling on our bodies was enough to answer her question. “You jinxed it.” I glared at Reign. “How could I have known it was actually going to rain?” Reign spluttered, just as another thunder reverberated the earth, louder than the last one. Soon the drizzle turned into a light downpour. “Oh my God, what do we do?”

I shrugged, and Jace closed the door behind him. “I think we’re just paranoid after what happened.” “Probably,” I said, and walked to my room. I heard the crying again and the dripping water. I switched the bathroom light on and almost jumped out of my skin when I saw the figure leaning against the wall in the bathroom. She was hugging her knees, and her face was hidden by her hair. The taps were closed, and I realized that the dripping water sound was coming from her. I knelt down in front of her, and looked at her. “Do you need help?”

From inside their home, one could hear the calming and melancholic sound of raindrops. In the past, rain used to evoke fear in Keisha. But with Colten's help and love, the fear was slowly replaced with joyful memories amidst the rain. She had many bad experiences with the rain, moments that caused her intense fear, especially when she miscarried while it was raining. She even remembered how she tormented herself in the rain, allowing herself to drown in sadness while the raindrops poured on her skin.

The house is quiet, the few servants around having retired to their rooms, leaving her alone with no one to see. The heavy drops hit her skin, making her shiver. In her silent world, she wishes—just for a moment—to hear the sound of the rain. The colors of the evening rain are soft and blurry, calming in a way she can only feel, not fully understand. All she knows is that it’s beautiful.

She promises to bring me something in an hour if she doesn’t see me and starts walking back to the hidden entrance. I stand in the field and will a cloud to start pouring rain next to me. A solitary black cloud gathers and big, fat raindrops fall rapidly in a small, contained circle. I walk around it, marveling at how well contained it is. I stick my hand into the downpour, the icy cold water feeling like a treat in the heat of the day.

- KILLIAN - Rain. I stare at the wiper blades sliding back and forth over my windscreen, wiping the raindrops hitting the glass away to no avail. It keeps pouring. Heavily at that. The sound of the water hitting my car and every object in the environment, the ground included, eases my nerves. The coolness of the air due to the rainfall gives me some sense of warmth. It’s ironic but it’s soothing. My car engine is on but other than the headlights and the wiper blades, nothing else is on. Not even the heaters.

As I returned to my hometown, gentle winds brushed my hair, the scent of grass and soil tickling my nose. I'd wandered far away from home in my early years, but time out there had made me wiser. Now, I understood that home was where I chose to stay. A storm had passed, and old leaves had fallen. When spring came, new shoots would sprout. I would be there, basking in the sunlight, while the scent of flowers fluttered in the air. Life was good.

The sky above was full of tumultuous, dark and ragged clouds. Ominous black clouds covered the sky, and released a sudden shower. Thunder rolling in from the west. The morning was cold and wet, with a brisk wind sweeping the rain across the land. On a normal day, the howling wind frightened Raven, but she was too focused, trying to hold back the avalanche of tears that had been building up since the moment she had been angered, her heart was heavy. The weather explained her mood—anger, disappointment and despair. Angry because she was so close to finding out the truth from the old man, disappointed that she didn’t know what to do next, and lastly, all hope was lost. It’s been two days since

She scrutinized me, her lower lip slightly quivering, thinking I couldn't answer that. I leaned in closer until my breath brushed against her skin, and her intoxicating scent filled my nostrils, enveloping me. My voice took on a rough, seductive edge as I murmured, "Because when it rains, you find beauty in sadness. Some people feel melancholy when it rains. But not you. For you, rain brings joy and a sense of being alive. The sound of rain comforts and calms you. It reminds you that a little rain is necessary for flowers to bloom.
