I begin to stand up and grab the smaller hamper when Lorie begins to speak. "Um.. Layla?" She says hesitantly. "Yes." I reply back gently. "Can we read a book tonight?" She asks with pleading eyes. "Sure!" I reply. "What did you have in mind?" I ask as I approach the side of her bed. Slowly Lorie pulls a book out from under her pillow and hands it to me as I sit down on the bed next to her. The book is a mild chapter book and the label reads "Hank the Cowdog".

His mouth formed an ‘O’ as he processed the information. “But it’s nothing like holding a book in your hand and getting lost in an adventure or romance novel.” I joked. “Oh, I have a few books if you want to pick some out and take them with you. For the journey.” “Really? That would be great!” I clapped my hands together in excitement about what new tales I could delve into. I ended up picking out three books. One was about a treasure hunt, the second was a collection of romance stories from around the realm based on Alpha’s finding their mates, and the third was based on historical figures and their relationships to their gods.

HUNTER Our trip to New York was less tiring than I thought, I can even say that it was a riveting trip, Maggie sleeps cuddle up in my arms while I read ‘Archer’s Voice’ by Mia Sheridan, with the cover covered in black , of course! After all, I’m tired of my friends making fun of me because I’m a MMA fighter who likes to read novels. We get to Park Central Hotel and Gary check us in, I’m so happy for Maggie being here with me I’m barely able to hide my happiness. Gary looks at us hugging in the elevator and throws a bucket of cold water on me by saying:

I threw the satchel over my shoulder and headed to the hut. As I walked inside I quickly shut and latched the door, I also did the same with the shutters. I didn’t want anyone seeing me search frantically through these books to find what I’m looking for. I dumped them all out onto the bed then plopped down in the middle with my legs crossed, I began my search through all 9 books, each with over a thousand pages, I then got tired of sitting on the bed and moved my work to the small table in the corner of the room.

"We don't have any students coming here since everyone has class." Cathy and Roxie agreed. They took different kinds of books. "Miss, what book is this?" Roxie asked in surprise. Cathy and the Librarian turned to Roxie. They saw that Roxie was holding a book that was black in color. Apart from its black cover, there is nothing else written on it. "Oh, so there it is," the Librarian said, gently taking the book from Roxie. "It's a book about rogue wolves. I've been looking for it for a while," she explained.

The near audible gasp from Elias made me think I had misspoke. My mate? I heard him nearly on the edge of tears in my mind. No, she's just saying it, don't read too much into it. I guess my mind reading was coming back now. If there was some way I could figure out why it was turning off and on sporadically, I would really appreciate it! I cursed silently to Inari. Hugo apparently didn't care what was happening mentally as he scoffed “So what are you then? You were able to sneak into pack territory on the full moon and there's a rumor you were seen turning into a small black animal.”

I burst through the tree line into chaos. Six massive creatures prowled through Steele territory. They were not wolves. Not anymore. Cursed beasts twice the size of any natural wolf, with eyes that glowed different colours. Red. Green. Gold. Purple. Each one represented a different bloodline. A different ancient horror bound to flesh and rage. And they were slaughtering my wolves. Bodies littered the ground. Wolves I trained with. Ate with. Lived beside. Now reduced to torn flesh and spilt blood.

All it needed to complete the ghostly appearance were a few cobbed web's and narly spiders. I was bored to the bone today, so much to visit a dead woman's home. But in honesty I was looking to find a few books of hers, she always read, and now that she's dead, what good would books be to her? Only, the shelf was bear but in my despair, fate gave me a glimpse of one lying atop her pillow. The three little pigs. "I'll huff and puff until I blow your house down, " I repeat aloud reading from the book. "That's quite original isn't it?"

“They’ve scrubbed the house clean of anything that smells like the past.” Lira leaned against the bedpost, a devious glint in her eyes. “Well... the main library has the 'official' history books, which are probably ninety percent propaganda,” she said, shrugging one shoulder. “But if the books are useless, we go to the source. The living libraries.” I arched an eyebrow, my interest piqued. “The living libraries?”
