RAINE’S POV I woke up to the scent of something sweet and the sound of someone humming off-key in the kitchen. For a second, I forgot it was my birthday. Then I stretched, glanced at the clock, and smiled. Twenty-one. I was officially Legal-Legal. This felt so surreal. My phone buzzed at that moment, and Cyril’s name floated across my screen. Butterflies stirred in my tummy as I slipped to answer, a stupid smile on my face.

I smirk back, “Love them actually, but Aqen used the word ‘centuries’, so I was just wondering.” “I was born in 1670, does that answer your question?” I freeze in my tracks, “You’re three-hundred and fifty-one years old?!” I screech. I’ve got to stop doing that. “I’ll be three-hundred and fifty-one next month,” she corrects, coming to a stop and turning to look at me. “When’s your birthday?” “Does it matter?” “It does to most people.” “I don’t celebrate my birthday, I haven’t in a very long time,” she says, and I can hear the sadness in her voice. I remember she said her family is all gone. No wonder she doesn’t celebrate her birthday, who would want to when they’re all alone?

It's not my birthday today. "Uhm? Today isn't my birthday?" I informed them and I guess I asked it to them. "Why are you greeting me? Uh it's not my birthday." I added. "Who says it's not your birthday today?" I turned to one side in front of me because I heard Zach's voice. "Today is December 24th." He informed me. "WHAT?!" Am I hearing right? December 24th today?

CHAPTER ONE A World Of Werewolves "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Blair! Happy birthday to you!" Blair's college friends sang, their voices harmonizing in a cheerful tune, and their faces beaming with joy. Blair was surrounded by her closest college friends as they celebrated her 22nd birthday in the woods. They had set up a small bonfire and spread out blankets on the ground, where they all sat, chatting, laughing and enjoying the cool night breeze.

Upon checking outside the car, I see a lot of people at the Pack House's parking lot chanting and screaming, continuously wishing me a happy birthday. At first, I think I'm in dream land but again, I assure myself that I'm fully awake. For sure, today is my birthday, the same date when mom gave birth to me twenty one years ago. Of course I'm turning twenty one today and I'm quite ashamed of myself for having forgotten all that, especially such a special and an important day!

Jake exclaims like a teenage girl, attracting a frown from everyone. "I don't even know what today's date is." “Can anyone tell me what date is today? My birthday is close, and I don’t want to miss it!” I exclaimed, to which the nurse said, “April 28,” I felt like my world was about to collapse. My birthday was tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will get my wolf!

I didn’t bother about that much. “So your wolf hasn’t woken up yet?” Vince asked me after a while. I nodded my head. “When are you turning eighteen? Usually a wolf would first emerge on that day.” “Just a couple of months away,” I said with a shrug. My birthday was never a big deal, as no one ever remembered that day. I had come to regard my birthday as just another day of the year over the years. Why get excited about becoming a year older when there was nothing to look forward to that day?

He asked curiously. "Mine." She replied, smiling. "How can you have two birthdays at the same time?" "I wonder. My real birthday is January but my brother celebrates it for me every 7th of July. He called it my special birthday from him and that's how it has been over the years now. I keep on forgetting whenever he sends me gifts which is why I used it as my pass code. July 7 feels more like my birthday than January 20. I was born on a different day but I celebrate it on a different day."
