Dime and I rushed into the bathroom and started to dye each other's hair, Dime went first! Her old hair was a dark brown now it was a light shade of brown with golden highlights in her hair!

I wish her sandy waves were spilling down her back like they usually did but having her hair up gives me a clear view of her face. She is wearing a thick black hoodie, jeans, and plain sneakers, but she looks like a queen.

She cracked her knuckles and examined her handiwork, an inward complacence infusing her chest. She had parted the hair in curly zigzag lines and made cornrows. Zigzag cornrows. The last rows on either side of her head had been braided backwards — to the front — so that they hung down either side of her face to her chest and glittered with the big, transparent grass-green beads that hung down them.
