I opened it slowly. Inside, a live viper curled, black and glistening, tongue flicking the air. Around its neck was a small gold tag. Carved into it: "Hello, sister. – Celeste" I smiled. Let the next game begin.

When I looked back, I found an older woman holding a hoe. Her thick, long hair hung straight down and brushed the ground. It looked extremely unusual. At that moment, I realized that the safe zone had shrunk, and I was standing in a danger zone. “It’s the middle of the night. What are you doing out here instead of sleeping?” The ghoul lady looked straight at me. I watched as her black hair floated and got close to winding around my neck. My throat was parched. It was a natural fear response. Shaking, I raised the eggs and greens in my hands.

Afraid. "Gaby!" She tried to answer. Her mouth wouldn't work. The last thing she saw before everything went dark was his face above hers—and for the first time, he looked terrified.

Crimson blood spilled from the corners of his lips as he gnawed on a thigh—a human thigh. The other kids were cradling other body parts in their arms, too, and one of the kids to the side was stuffing a human heart into his mouth. Thick, foul-smelling fluid smeared across his lips as he started crawling toward me with the heart in hand. But when I held my breath and stayed perfectly silent, they stopped munching as well. Any slightest sound, though, they'd start crawling toward me again. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie. "Yes, they track by sound," Elias explained, as if reading the question in my mind.

Heloise set up an electronic synthesized voice and then called all the TV stations, self-published media, newspapers and magazines in the PHOENIXFELL Empire without leaving out. "Hello, I'm reporting to your department that Councilman Brady Brook is setting up a sinister superstitious ritual of drawing on ghosts and cursing people at home. If you rush over now, you can catch a live shot, if you're late, your opponents will seize the headlines ahead of you."

" _____ Layla and Sunny exchange worried glances, unsure of what could have caused Hazel's sudden fear. Layla hesitates for a moment before speaking again: "Look, Crazy crap just happened here. We need an explanation." Hazel takes a deep breath, her voice trembling, as she begins to recount the chilling events that unfolded. "I saw something in my head—blood everywhere!" Hazel then continued, "So many whispers, and of course the entity that took over my body!"

Someone was playing tricks on me. It could be anyone—Trix and her minions or some jerk who noticed my absence in the cafeteria. Then the door creaked open. Slowly. Noisily. Announcing a presence. I was shaking in my bones. This situation reminded me of those horror movies where something jumps out and cuts your head off. "Hello… Is anyone out there?" I said in a shaky voice. Silence. "If this is some sort of game, I don’t like it. Cut it off."

Then, something moved. At first, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. But then, a shape crawled out from the darkness between the trees. It was hunched, its long fingers dragging across the ground. The monster was bigger than any I have ever seen all through my stay here in Hell. Nothing made my skin crawl like this. It was smiling, the sight hitting me straight in my chest, forcing me to take a step back. “You’re afraid,” it whispered. I swallowed hard, trying to steady my breath. I wouldn’t let it scare me.

Her body tensed up the moment she felt someone behind her. Her heart started pounding again, but she refused to be scared. She turned around in a defensive stance, then gasped when she saw a zombie doll standing there, staring at her. It was holding a lit torch, the flickering light casting eerie shadows across its creepy face. After a few seconds, Valeria noticed a folded note sticking out of the doll’s chest pocket. She quickly pulled it out, took the torch from its hand, and moved to a brighter part of the room to read it.

I open my mouth to try again, but nothing comes out. “Gattina,” he purrs. I have no idea what that means, but damn do I love the way he says it. Heat flows down my spine, and pools between my legs. “Hi, Adam,” I finally manage to croak out, stupidly hoping he can't tell the effect he has on me. I need to focus. “I uh have to go.”
