The hallways felt suffocating, as though every step I took was leading me deeper into a twisted nightmare.

We got to Nashville that night and we were hoping that since this city had already been hit, nobody would be hanging around. We got out of our cars and started looking around, but if there were any survivors they would be too scared to come out at night time. “Well, well. Would you look at who we have here? It’s the werewolf that’s causing us so many problems.” Someone said behind us. So we all spun around and we were being surrounded by vampires.

The only reply was the suffocating smoke, swirling ominously around him, and the sound of his own ragged breaths, quickening with each passing moment. Panic clawed at his throat as he strained to hear any sign of her. But the silence was deafening. It intensified the horror that began to creep into his mind. “What if the Demons had caught up with Gem?” The thought alone sent icy tendrils of dread spiraling through him. As he breathed, he began to feel shadows flickering at the edges of his vision. Suddenly, a pale candlelight popped up before his eyes, illuminating the hallways with a creepy radiance.

What are you doing here in my GF’s room !?” the shape of the shadow slowly formed and gave the appearance of a large hairy man. “A Kapre!!” (Kapre is a Filipino horror myth that appears like a person with a hairy body and a face of an ancient people)

In the eerie stillness of the night, Marisol clutched at the sheets, her heart racing wildly owing to the scare of the nightmare that had taken a few nights off, only to return stronger than it would seem. The vivid imagery of the beast persists even behind her closed lids, haunting her waking moments as she grapples with the remnants of the surreal horror that had unfolded in her dreams.

It remained a fixed, black pinprick in a sea of terrifying blue. As my eyes adjusted, I realized the skin around the eye didn't look like skin at all. It looked like wet parchment stretched too tightly over a frame that didn't quite fit. I remembered the "rules" people joked about in horror movies. Don't go outside. Don't answer the door. But what do you do when the monster is already in the hallway, wearing your father’s throat like a stolen garment?
