White silk draped across the beams, faded, worn, and slightly torn. A carved canopy bed stood beneath curtains stained with dark red marks that resembled blood. A blurred bronze mirror rested on the dressing table, its surface streaked with winding stains. Pale "happiness" characters adorned the walls, their presence jarring under the dim, flickering candlelight. "This is… a wedding horror." Claudia drew her shoulders in, her voice tight with fear. "Bruce, the horror elements from your country are truly the most intense in the world. I'm… I'm really a little scared."

“OH MY GOD I HATE THIS HOUSE.” From the distance, the House hummed irritably—offended. “Sorry, Brenda!” Samantha yelled. The House buzzed once—accepting the apology. --- Then the hum changed. Turned sharp. Frantic. Panicked. Samantha stiffened. “Lucien. That’s Brenda. What is she saying?” I listened. Varyn House was screaming through the roots of the earth. One word. Over and over. Danger. “Sebastian,” I said softly.

White sheets were draped over the furniture, reminding me of one of the many horror movies Aidan and I had watched over the years. I tried and failed to suppress my shiver at the dimly lit house. ‘This is going to take forever.’ Rayna groaned, ‘Do you see how big this place is?’

He’ll be just fine. Twenty-five minutes later, I pull up outside the Deveraux house just outside of downtown Portland. The house is the dream of horror movies, a gothic Victorian monster, with turrets, spirals, a wraparound porch, stained glass windows, complete with stone gargoyles guarding it from the roof. My younger self would have been in Heaven, but I lost my love of horror movies after my parents were killed by a monster. Some things you can never get back.

It was so liberating for him, that little by little and without realizing it, he began to shout it. "I am not a monster! I am not a monster!" He was screaming, louder and louder. Convinced for some strange reason that he was not a freak. Jonah ran out of his house and screamed that he was not a monster. He was running so fast that he had to hold Alma's head in his hand so that it wouldn't bother him. The people who saw him pass by looked at him strangely, his presence provoking disgust. But the children were afraid to see him. They wondered in their innocent little minds who was that strange little man, who possessed the color of the night and carried on his shoulder a strange head?

Modern, furnished and beautiful and looking new everyday although the house was five years old already. Juana's coffee was transparent, lot of water,lot of sugar, no milk. So she could see her face while sipping at it. Her big blue eyes were a bit undefined, her expression showed fear with a mixture of helplessness and unusual calm. Then the dream came again. Avocado. Garden. Branch. Third branch. Corpse dripping with blood. Loose. Screaming. Empty House. Dream. "Oh my goodness" she sighed, dropping her half empty mug. She tried to make meaning out of it, but it was a little creepy..

My hand dropped from my ear as I sprinted into the haunted house with just one thought in mind - Elsa. As I searched for her, I saw a small gathering a little distance away from me, people staring at the person lying on the floor. My heart thumped harder against my ribcage as I rushed toward it, praying it wasn't Elsa. My heart dropped as I saw her, lying in a pool of her own blood, almost lifeless. "Elsa!" my voice came as a whisper as fear crawled under my skin.

I know blood when I see it. What the fuck is going on in this house? Are they harvesting people? Torturing them? Killing them and storing their blood like some underground lab? Before I could spiral deeper, I heard them. Footsteps—heavy, fast, frantic. Several people headed this way. Panic shot through me like lightning.
