The Forgotten Luna
His grin faded, replaced by a cold, calculating look that made my skin crawl.
My heart pounded, each beat screaming that I was next, that the blood-stained blade would end me. I knelt in the pool of my parents’ blood, my dress soaked, my body trembling. I wanted it to be quick, to join Mom and Dad, to escape this nightmare that wouldn’t let me wake.
Silence stretched, heavy and suffocating, until the man with the blade lowered it.
“Fine,” he spat, his voice sharp as the weapon in his hand. “Take her to the survivors.” He turned, his boots leaving bloody prints as he strode out of the house, the door creaking behind him.
