How Many Chapters Should A Novel Have Novels & Stories

Later, I would be able to feel proud that I wrote something about my country’s local myth (screw inconsistencies and lack of information which I patched up with my own imagination). By the way, my apologies if in the end, I did not really reveal any spoiler. Haha. I was just writing down my messy thoughts. Alright. I’m guilty so let me just proceed to answering questions that I know some have in mind. - *How many chapters would The Ascension have? Can’t say for sure, but I estimate, it would be between 200-300. The chapters of this story are long anyway, I believe I would be able to cover everything that needed to be covered with that number of chapters.

I like making my chapters at least 3k words because I pack a lot into one chapter and I am unable to do that with a word limit of 1500-2k (to keep my chapters affordable I need to keep them between that word count). This story is dragging on because I'm trying to figure out how to keep it at a good pace while also keeping the chapters short and sweet. I'm afraid I'll either make the story too fast or as I am making it now, too slow. I am unable to find a healthy balance and this story is starting to become more of a burden than a joy like it originally is supposed to be.

Hello everyone so when I started writing the story, I wanted it to have as cute and as fluffy scenes as possible. Throughout the time, I have tried my best to do so. But, I can only know after you all inform me. This is going to be a light novel which means it is going to go on for at least 500 chapters and I am warning you all about it beforehand. There's a lot of mysteries which are going to come up and a lot of them which would be later on solved.

Rating it poorly because of what you don’t even know is cruel and malicious. I am sad and angry. I am a reader as much as I am a writer and I have read books with short chapters and understood what short chapters meant. Most times my chapter ends at 2.5k or 3k words, but because I know the coin consumption would be higher, I split the chapter into 2. I don’t like it but I have to understand and be considerate. I am taking this as an outlet to let you know sometimes we do what we do to make it easier for every reader. Getting rated poorly because of it is cruel. I barely get many reviews on the front page of the book so a review this poor would set me back so far.

So baring with me and sticking it out, means more to me than you could possibly imagine. Second, I want to say this is not the end. This is an intermission. A break or hiatus if you want to call it. With updates being so scarce, I’m sure you’re thinking that I should have done this earlier. And maybe I should have. I wanted to push and get to a point though where I felt okay and not like I was going to regret stepping away for a moment. So far, this story has 125 chapters. That is my second longest (behind Shift) and we currently have 252,800 words. That is nuts! That’s more than Twilight and New Moon combined! Hahaha!

In line with this, I will take it a little slow in my next book, enough for my eyes to rest so they won't get strained from all the screen time. I know you are all used to me delivering two chapters daily on most days, but in the next book, I will probably publish an average of nine to ten chapters per week. I need this badly, so I am asking for your understanding. Note that you can always read at the end of the week or after the book is completed. What book will I publish next?

That series is intended to have four books, one for each dragon. I'm still trying to figure out a posting schedule with the two books. Richie's story is written in my head and is ready to be put to paper, but The Arena is my husband's favorite. Writing 17-20 chapters a week is tough, but mostly manageable. So I may divide the number of chapters each book gets each week, rather than focusing on one while the other finishes. That would mean one possibly two chapters a day for both books, rather than two chapters a day for one and three chapters a week for the other. I'd love your input and what your preference is.
