How Many Words Does An Average Novel Have Novels & Stories

Alyssa, with a piercing gaze, said, "I hold high hopes for my authors, not like you. Especially this newbie, ah, I forget the name, but a little push from me, and who knows? Too diligent in their writing, perhaps? Ah, the pressures on authors these days. Writing 10,000 words a day isn't enough; some even write 20,000 to 30,000. They must think they're typewriters."

While moving along with the song, my fingers quickly tapped the keyboard, creating that familiar sound that the four corners of my room hear every day. My eyes were focused on the screen, possibly the only thing I've been looking at for the past year aside from television. As usual, I hardly noticed the time. Half an hour, an hour, until it reaches two hours. And the previously blank screen is now filled with three thousand words. "The end." I said fondly while pressing the letter' D,' a sign that I had finished another novel. "Finished." I smiled and lengthened the last word, raising my arms in triumph and letting out a big yawn before slumping back on my chair.

My chapters had always been from 1500 words to 2500 words, and sometimes I write longer when i feel like it's needed to be written longer in a chapter otherwise my minimum words had always been 1500 words and then go on. Whenever I write short chapter like shorter than 1500 words I always mention in my author note and apologise for it, but last chapter was 1600 words and this one is 2100 words.

So gentlewolves (this is my nickname for my readers. I just came up with it, what do you my gentlewolves think?) So on to the reason why I am writing this note before the start of the chapter... I was wondering that maybe my chapters are too long So I'll be making it shorter Now instead of the 1k+ words I usually write I'll be writing 600-700 words from now till further notice That is if you my gentlewolves are happy with it

I like making my chapters at least 3k words because I pack a lot into one chapter and I am unable to do that with a word limit of 1500-2k (to keep my chapters affordable I need to keep them between that word count). This story is dragging on because I'm trying to figure out how to keep it at a good pace while also keeping the chapters short and sweet. I'm afraid I'll either make the story too fast or as I am making it now, too slow. I am unable to find a healthy balance and this story is starting to become more of a burden than a joy like it originally is supposed to be.

It just happened naturally and unknowingly. And the total amount of words is about to achieve 50 thousand. It is quite an exciting and important moment for new novel writers. For me, I couldn't write this novel smoothly without your strong support. I do appreciate that you all can accompany with me in this journey together. "I would love to read some of it," I replied, feeling excited at the prospect of getting a glimpse into Max's creative mind. Max opened up her laptop and showed me the first few chapters of her novel. As I read through them, I was impressed by her writing style and the way she crafted her characters and their relationships.

This has been a story that has been five years in the making. This went from a five page 2000 word document that I wrote with the help of a few friends the a well over 40,000 word novel. At this point, I don't have anymore of the story written out. This is due to a career change that takes up most of my time. I hope to continue writing this story and I'm even thinking of a possible sequel, however the process will be much slower than planned.
