Alvin drops to his knees right there on the hard floor, looking up at me and Jodie with tears streaming down his face. "I heard what happened," Alvin chokes out, his voice shaking with pure remorse. "I was down in the city when the pack lockdown was announced in the news. Alpha, please... let me join the search team. I know I screwed up in the past. I know I was a terrible brother to Jodie, and I don't deserve her forgiveness. But please let me help you find my nephew. I want to make things right. I will lay down my life to bring your son home."

So no one actually knows the truth. "It's time I show myself. I need to protect my daughter" Alvin told his human wife, whom he married in the human world. "Yes," Avery agreed.

"This is no dream, Peyton. You think I'll let you go just like that?" Alvin bends his head like a serpent, with his fangs visible as he smiles inauspiciously at me. "I followed you to Chicago. And now, you've got yourself someone else. An alpha who's more powerful than the one from your former pack. Bravo Peyton, Bravo." He gives out three rounds of applause, with a smug smirk on his face.
