HUDSON Jim and Jay, two of my favourite pets, have huge lips that ooze saliva as they wag their tails eagerly awaiting the meal I'm about to pour out for them. They would have hated the long periods of inactivity and eventually resented their families and I did not want to contemplate the consequences of that. I replied looking up at the sky. "I don't know, but I hope it is an elf. Rumor has it that they treat their pets and slaves the best. Think about it. Her eyes were amber and held nothing but hate. "No," I said quietly. "No?" She moved closer. "You sure? Because you look like you want to say something." I did. I wanted to spit fire at her and warn her not to ever make jokes about me. But the reminder hit me like a slap. I was only a human in a den full of wolves. So I pressed my lips together and forced myself to stay still. "That's what I thought,” she said, turning to the other wolves that were now staring fully at us. "The breeder can't speak if not asked to. I almost forgot that she's just a pet."

ADAMS POV: “Please”her small body trembling against my hold. I've never seen anything or anyone more beautiful as my pet.Tears begin to feel her eyes,they're gorgeous. “You should have known the consequences before embarking on your stupid plan”I moved my hand around her neck, restricting air. I roughly released her neck. “I..I..I am sorry..”she stuttered. Mustering all the energy she could,Lisa pushed me and tried to run to the door.

"But it's going to be just fine! All my friends at school have pets, and I want one too! I promise I'll take care of it and... and feed it and walk it every day!" Justine's eyes sparkled with amusement as he listened to Kael's enthusiastic plea. "What is it about animals that fascinates you so much, Kael?" he asked, his voice low and curious. Kael's face scrunched up in thought, and then his eyes widened. "It's because they're innocent and loyal and protective! They love you no matter what!" Justine's brows furrowed, and he leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "But not all animals are innocent and loyal, Kael. There are some that would stop at nothing to harm humans."

English touched my soul in a way that no human ever could. “The good news is that you had him microchipped, so if someone picks him up and takes him to a shelter or the vet, then they’ll be able to contact you.” At the mention of vet, Elijah pulled into his driveway. I Internet-stalked him yesterday, so I knew he owned a vet practice. “Thanks again for all your help today, Cole, but I think I’m gonna call it a night.” “Yeah, it is getting kind of late. Walk me to my car?”

I grinned and he rolled his eyes. “But we aren’t dogs.” He shrugged. He didn’t seem offended by my teasing and I really wanted to know everything about them. Deep down a voice was screaming at me to be scared, but I couldn’t help myself. I was completely and utterly intrigued by them. “We age a lot slower than normal humans. We aren’t immortal like vampires, but we can grow pretty old in human years.” I nodded. It made sense. Even their people who looked a little older seemed young at heart and I leaned back against him while we sat looking at his people having fun.
