They’re all safe now. Vamp, my Persian cat, stretched out lazily in my lap, indifferent to the human chaos around us. He was a constant reminder that animals were better than people loyal, silent, and devoted only to those who deserved it. Definitely better than most of the humans I’d met. I stroked his soft fur, scratching behind his ears the way he liked. He purred, content.

Approaching them, the vet said, "Animals, especially dogs, are deeply emotional creatures, much like humans. Their connection with their owners often exceeds ours. "You both should resolve your conflicts privately without causing Bailey further distress. Look at its current state. It's heartbreaking."

Crouching down, the middle aged woman caressed her. “She would make a good pet.” The men looked at each other. Who would want a pet as scary and big as that? The woman didn't turn to look at them, “People keep strange creatures as pets.”She chuckled, clearly amused by their reaction even though she wasn't looking, “Possums, pythons, you name it. People pet them all.” “Rumor has it that she is a family… pet.” One of them informed. “Told you.” She deadpanned.

I was utterly taken aback by his words. “What do you mean by that?” Coal growled. “Our laws are different…than what you may be used to,” Aatos hedged. I was starting to get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. “Why is it not conducive to humans and wolves?” Aatos maintained eye contact with me. “Humans are considered pets…with no rights. They require a master or mistress for protection.” “Pets,” I repeated under my breath, remembering he’d called me pet a few times. “Do you own pets?”

I just knew that I would have a soundless sleep and I think I deserve that after everything that I've gone through. I don't remember the last time that I was this content. Was this why people loved dogs so much? They really are a man's best friend because Romeo has me feeling like I'm not alone in this world. It was starting to feel a lot like it was just me versus the world to be honest. But Romeo was a much needed and appreciated companion. I don't regret ever getting this "overgrown husky" which I was pretty sure wasn't a husky but a wolf. But he didn't seem wild, well, except when men tried to approach me. But other than that, he was a peach.

Excruciating, dreadful pain. As soon as Helion walked in, the dogs desisted from their meal and walked to his side. They purred around him like cats did, begging for his attention. He gave it to them, rubbing their furry heads and bodies. After a few seconds of running his fingers through their fur, he snapped his finger and they returned to mercilessly devouring the man's insides. “These are my pets.” He muttered casually. “If you're scared they'll come after you, they won't.”

Elle said and Kyle came out of the kitchen and walked towards Elle. "What's the problem?" He asked "She has a nose bleed" Elle said "My Pet?" Kyle said as he turned to Eva and Elle nodded "I'm not your pet Kyle" Eva said and Kyle smiled "Okk..Since you are not my pet, stop your nose bleed yourself" He said about to walk back to the kitchen when Eva said "Fine, fine, fine. I'm your Pet" Kyle had a small smile on his face when he heard her and said "Not convincing enough". Eva sighed and said in a playful voice "I'm your Pet. Your one and only Pet". Kyle smirked and walked towards her and held her hand as he went to where he kept the first aid.

I said to Clarissa, “and she’s not speaking.” “That’s because she’s a dog, Katla,” she said. “Dogs aren’t wolves, but that one is called a Husky. They’re supposed to look like little wolves, I guess. I don’t know where they came from actually, but humans have them as pets, for friends.” “So humans do have wolves! It’s just their wolves can’t talk back and aren’t part of them,” I’m not sure if it made it better or worse. I also felt bad for the small wolf dog on the leash.

I looked up and blinked. Two large, hairy dogs were standing just a few feet away. Labradors or Retrievers. Maybe a mix, but gorgeous. They weren't barking or acting aggressive, instead, they were just watching me with eyes that felt strangely friendly, almost human. I’ve loved dogs since I was a toddler, but pets were strictly forbidden at the orphanage. Now that I’m finally financially stable, I’ve been thinking about getting one. A companion, someone to dispel the quiet of my apartment, a reason to leave all the work in the office and get home.

she asked, casually referring to him as a serial killer like it was nothing serious. “I don’t and cannot speak for all of the murderers in the world. I think it all depends. Maybe some of them actually have pets. I like birds…sometimes when they’re quiet. You are not a fan of pets, too. You even included it in your house rules…you don’t like dogs.” They were the same.
