She was grateful for the human’s assistance, but she was infuriated by the fact that she had to receive assistance to deal with her own attack. And she was eager to make Mane understand just how much he had angered her. And so she rushed at him with reckless abandon. The Slender Cat wasn’t best pleased by the situation either. He had his pride, and didn’t want to gang up on Mane but he had to. That was the only way he felt this boy could be taken down. So he too rushed towards Mane swiftly.

I used to get a few updates about him from Ren and Rachel, but even they didn't hear much from him, except that he got a new Beta now. I kept myself occupied with the new trainer. While Madison was mean and relentless, Zoey was friendly but far more brutal. With platinum blonde hair and ocean blue eyes, she belonged to the White Warrior clan, a clan that doesn't have the mate concept. Their bloodline was notorious for the ruthless killers they were, not belonging to a pack or territory. Their wolves were as big as any Alpha's wolf.

The large man said with what could only be described as an ‘I told you so’ look. “What about you?” Doc asked Jill. “Are werecats the same way?” Gunny laughed and Jill shook his head. “No. We do have mates, but we are not tied to them like wolves are. And my breed is very…” “He’s a damned tomcat,” Gunny supplied. “Given half the chance, he’ll fuck you and Jack at the same time. And then prowl afterwards.” “I would not,” Jill objected. “I would have a snack and then go prowl.”

I didn’t want to have to deal with a wild animal if things got rough. Kat was a werecat. I didn’t think she was like Troi, a Kunisada, but rather a panther after she shifted. I wasn’t sure, though, and I didn’t think it would be polite to ask. Besides, how do you start that conversation? Varg, Lykos and Volk were all werewolves. They were brothers, all of them close in age. They also didn’t speak much and just followed directions. I liked that.

“And we refuse to follow an Alpha who is blinded by a woman who will lead us all to ruin.” The warriors moved as one, unsheathing their weapons, forming a solid wall between Atlas and me. And in that moment, I realized. They weren’t here to challenge Atlas. They were here to take me. I moved to step forward, but in an instant, the warriors surged. A pair of strong hands grabbed me, twisting my arms behind my back. I snarled, struggling against their grip, but another warrior struck the back of my knees, forcing me down. Atlas let out a vicious growl, his power flooding the room as his wolf fought for dominance.

They could take their words and shove it up their ass. “We’ll get you cured,” Kiran whispered as he came back to me. My heart ached at my brother's words. “Kiran, this is one of the deadliest forms of wolf venom out there. There is no cure. All I can do is adjust.” He huffed. “Well, a blind woman can still be a warrior. When we get a chance, we’ll start training so you can adjust to your new way of life.” We reached the top of the stairs, and he gently nudged my arm. “Last door on the right.”

Wolves answered instantly, howls rippling through the night like echoes of war. The scent hit me before I even reached the outer fence, blood and silver, sharp and wrong. My hackles rose. Then I heard it. The sound of claws tearing into flesh. Move! I ordered through the link. We burst through the trees together, a storm of fur and rage. There, one of my men, down, his throat bleeding. And standing over him, something large, feline, striped with black and silver. A were-cat. A janguar. No. Not just one. Two.

I grunt as I clock a warrior in his throat. “He threatened them with killing their families. We have to save as many as we can,” I yell out as I am wrestled to the ground by two warriors. These fuckers just keep coming. Suddenly, one of the idiots bites into my thigh and I look down to see he has shifted. They always underestimate my strength at first and are having to shift to take me on. Dumbasses. Kat pushes forward and pins him down in a second, snarling as she clamps down on his neck. It’s not fatal, but he will have to stop in order to focus healing or he will bleed out.

The tribal men joined too but Katana was faster and slashed through many necks, taking the toll to win the fight. One of the bandits came closer and attacked Katana with his incredible speed. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the bandit shifted into a cheetah and to my amusement, it was as big as a werewolf. A werecheetah? I had read about them in the books but never thought I would see one. He easily bashed Katana and threw her away.

Each warrior seemed to possess an ancient wisdom, their irises reflecting a tapestry of battles fought and victories won. Their movements were a study in perfection, a ballet of strength and agility that seemed to defy the laws of physics.
