Last I heard of her Katniss had told me she won her first match in the Dance of the Dead and has just four more to go. “Kyle- Kyle!” Katniss’ voice shoots through as she barges open the door, which does not happen. She is usually quiet. Once her eyes meet mine, I can immediately see the panic in them. She is holding a fire torch in one hand and is wearing a black cloak — there is another one in her which she throws over to me. “We need to leave now. They are onto us.” I stand up immediately, leaving behind the bread I was previously eating. ‘Who?’ I sign.

Cassidy shot him before he could make a move and I released a breath. Slowly, she led me out of the building. Outside was chaos. The smell of hydrogen fusion filled my nostrils and they made me want to throw up. Cassidy rubbed my back slowly as I fought the urge to throw up. There was nothing in my stomach, I might end up vomiting my intestines. My eyes landed on my mate. The building went up in flames and I covered my ears. I would have died if I stayed a little longer inside.

She falls forward, having fallen unconscious from such blinding fear. Yet my arm bands across her chest, catching her before she can fall into the roaring flames. My body is moving before thought, clutching her close to my chest like she was precious to me. In this instant, she is. Lisa's POV I gathered whatever courage was left in me and turned around. As expected, the monster was already looking down at me. Our eyes collided and for a second, it felt like my entire body was swallowed by flames. That look in his eyes, it was something else. I swear I felt it rather than just saw it. The way he stared, it reminded me of a wolf who likes to toy with its prey before he devours it. Or worse like a drug addict who has finally tasted his drug after waiting too long.
