He took off, the pack surging behind him. The pack moved swiftly, trailing Hunter as they approached an eerie stretch of abandoned warehouses on the outskirts of the city. It looked like something out of a post-apocalyptic nightmare. Hunter’s head snapped up as he caught her scent, then gestured toward a building. The pack fanned out, silent and ready. Inside, Chloe had already freed Ava and Steven from their chains. Guards were closing in, but Chloe’s eyes glazed over as she chanted under her breath. The guards crumpled to the ground, writhing in pain before she dropped her hand, snapping their necks.
