Luca’s POV Darkness pressed in like wet concrete, the emergency strips dead, the only light the faint red glow of my burner phone screen as we stumbled up the emergency stairwell. Gunfire echoed behind us sporadic now, dying gasps of Chen’s team as the mutated nanos took hold. Coughs turned to wet gurgles; bodies hit the floor with finality. The mist had grown so thick it tasted metallic on my tongue, euphoria edging in at the corners of my vision, making every heartbeat feel slow and syrupy.

I know that the doctor I saw today said they were immortal, but the fact was I was immortal which would make them part immortal. The woman grabs his hands threw the bars as she sobs, “They told me you didn’t want me.” He breaks the metal, letting her out and they kiss. I watch not understanding what the hell is going on.

– Malcolm seems to lose his composure, he rolls his eyes at Mia – “If you don't eat, I will kill you and kill your whole family” The girl senses the murderous intent in the man's words, so she just has to do what he says. But she begs him to let her feed herself without him feeding her. The girl just swallows it, then chokes, and the bowl of porridge in her hand falls directly onto the man's shirt.
