The scent of blood magic and rot hit me and underneath it all was a familiar stench that made my wolf snarl with rage. "Hunter." I said, the name tasting like poison. "That fucking coward," Sylvia hissed. "He came back?" We found him in the main chamber of my tower, surrounded by shattered glass from the window he had broken through. Dark symbols glowed on his skin, pulsing with sickly green light. In his hands he held what looked like bones carved with runes, and the air around him shimmered with magic that made my wolf recoil. "Hello, bitch," Hunter said, grinning at Sylvia with blood-stained teeth. "Miss me?"

I screamed, breaking cover and running toward them. I found them in a small clearing. The Hunter was lying on his back. He was dressed in grey tactical camouflage, his face covered by a sleek, full-face mask with glowing green lenses. A high-tech compound bow lay in the dirt nearby. Ashren was straddling him, his good hand clamped around the Hunter’s throat, his other hand raised, claws extended, ready to rip the mask off. "Give me one reason not to open your jugular," Ashren snarled.

My eyes wandered to his door marked with a viper insignia. The symbol sent a shiver down my spine each time I looked at it, so I quickly averted my gaze, pretending I hadn’t noticed.

"Max! It's been so long, why haven't you texted me?" Max was a tall attractive boy with brown eyes and silver hair. He had a piercing in one ear and lower lip. There was this design that Hunter called a Tattoo on his neck. If I had to speculate his age in the human world, I would say he was the same age as Hunter, around twenty-four.
