Ten years old “How’s my beautiful girl?” My dad asks me as I walk down the stairs of our packhouse on my 10th birthday. “Good morning Daddy. I’m good. I can’t wait to get my wolf today!” I’ve been the apple of my father’s eye for ten years. He is always proudly taking me around, introducing me to our pack members and other pack members through the years. I walk over and hug him as he kisses the top of my head.

10 Years Later Snapshot FREYA’S POV Ten years. Ten chaotic, beautiful, loud, sometimes infuriating years, and somehow, I’m still laughing. Sionna, now a whirlwind of a ten-year-old, is zooming across the living room on a scooter while Viktor, our clever little fox in the making, tries to “teach” her manners. Alan is muttering something about insurance claims if she crashes into the TV again. I just laugh, because really… what is life without a little risk and noise?

My father and I would hide from my mother and Miguel, who was just born, running off to McDonalds. In my ten-year-old head, are whereabouts were a secret, though I know now that my mother knew all the time where we ran off to. I remember especially that it was autumn; the wind kept blowing and my hair fluttered because the car window was down. The yellow almost orange color of the day today is what brings the memory to life the most.

Once I was sure she will be fine, I exited the room. I made my way to my room. After entering I directly went to my bathroom and took a warm shower relaxing all my muscles. I wrapped a towel around my hips and made my way into my walk in closet. I put on a sweatpant leaving my chest bare. I laid in my bed and succumbed to dark. My ten year old self was sitting in the parlor of our house with my father or with Sir as he liked me to call him. He had a cigarette between his lips as he puffed out smoke.

Her strength impressed him. “When I was ten, I moved to a new foster house. The neighbors had a horse, and that summer, they gave me lessons.” Mia slowly pat Dreamer, as if the motion soothed her while she remembered. A slow smile came across her face. “It's probably one of the best memories I have.”
