I Didn't Do The Thing Today Novels & Stories

I had made up my mind not to trouble Mary about anything that had happened today. I knew what I had to do.

I do not correct her. I did not do anything extraordinary.

Tomorrow was graduation day, I tried to cheer myself up. But it didn’t work. Not even a little bit. Not even… at all.

I stepped aside to let him in. “You didn’t go to work,” he said immediately, eyebrows raised, not accusing just curious. “I… took the day,” I admitted, shrugging as if that explained everything. “For what?” he asked, frowning gently. I considered lying, but instead said, “I needed a pause. Just a normal day. Without… obligations.” He exhaled slowly and smiled. “Fair. But you didn’t even check in.” “I didn’t want to. Nothing important happened today that needed me.”

Did I tell her I have all this time? Of course, I didn't. A sigh escaped my mouth. Although there was still time to do this - more than enough, as a matter of fact. “Just do what you need to do. You can leave.” I now only could face the damn fucking daming system before me and continued to type. Today of all days, there was just so much to work on. Why did it have to be my portion on a day like this? I shut the system and leaned my head against the wall. Instead of bothering myself too much, I changed my mind on what to do.

“You didn’t text, didn’t call. That’s not like you.” I exhaled slowly, pressing my fingers against my temple. She was right. It wasn’t like me. Normally, I would have checked in, even if it was just a quick message. But today… Today everything had gone sideways so fast I hadn’t even had time to think. “I was going to call,” I said finally. “Things just got complicated.” There was a pause on the other end. I could almost hear her thinking, piecing things together, searching for meaning between my words.

Tomorrow I'll fix this. I just didn't know yet how wrong I was about how things were going to go.

I was supposed to go yesterday evening ,but I canceled because I didn't want to miss training in the morning and I knew I would get home later last night and it would take at least an hour or two to fall asleep . So I rescheduled for today . After I finished my food I asked the girls if they had anything else to do today . " No" they both answered " Do you girls wanna go with me to check out a dance studio ? " I asked " Sure you're talking about the one in town ?" Jeanie asked me, confused as to what she was talking about. " There is a dance studio here ? " I said, sounding surprised. " I was talking about the one in the human territory closest from here . "

I didn't went to work today. me: " max.. cancel all the meeting today... handle office today.. I am not coming..."
