I Like Myself Book Novels & Stories

I hear a few chuckles as my cheeks flush. "Yes ma'am," I mumble, turning my attention back to her. She's lecturing on the novel we've just started earlier this week. I've already read this novel, 'Of Mice and Men' so I zoned out on her lecturing. Drake smirks at me before turning his head forward.

Instead, it was Sheena, who had utterly dropped her innocent act. "What a beautiful dress. Too bad it's ruined. Oh well, it looked better on the hanger than it ever did on you anyway." I was unfazed by her remark, simply saying, "Pathetic." "Who are you calling pathetic?" Sheena shrieked as her face contorted with rage. She looked like a witch from a fairy tale. "You, obviously," I replied calmly. "So insecure you can't stand seeing others shine. Fighting over men, getting jealous over dresses. Were you starved for attention as a child?"

Right now, I need to save myself first. My hand reached for the small notebook in my bag. I’ve had this book since the beginning of my marriage—a place where I wrote down all the feelings I couldn’t say out loud. I flipped to a blank page and began to write: “Today, I choose myself. Not because I’m selfish. But because I’m tired of always giving in. I want to know what it feels like to be happy… without wounds behind my smile.” My hand paused. I closed the book gently.

“How did you even fall for him in the first place? He doesn’t seem nearly as handsome as I am.” Damian felt his chest tighten as his breathing grew shallow. It was as though someone had punched him twice in the ribs. Still, his eyes were locked on Justin’s hand resting around my waist. If this were his own turf, Damian would have pulled out a gun and blown that hand to pieces without hesitation. Justin loosened his grip on my waist. “Don’t glare at my hand like that. It’s rude. Still, I suppose I should properly introduce myself. I’m Justin.”

Well, at least for the next six months but damn I could so get used to it with its stunning lake view. “You must know who I am.” She says like I have nothing better to do with my time than stalk famous people on I*******m and the such like. Okay, so I do my fair share of scrolling and stalking. I don’t, however do a lot of looking her page it’s mostly beauty shots in bikinis and a whole load of random selfies. Personally, I’d rather look at the bookish feeds since I’m a bit of a self-confessed book nerdy-geek person.

Shaking my head to push that thought from my head, I turned on the shower and let the cold water run through my body. "So what if I'm not likable? I like myself, that's all that matters to me." If no one will be able to love me for who I am, then I'll spare myself from self-pitying and instead, pour all my love to myself. If no one can do it, then I will. As simple as that. Though, at the same time, it's easier said than done. "Khein was a jerk. I hate him," I whispered while hugging my naked body under the running water.

Me and myself. I managed to pull myself up and reached for the pocket of the jacket I'm wearing. The book Justin gave, The First Born is inside. "You know, you really gave me a headache" I said looking at the book in my hands. Even after thinking about it on the diners and through my way home last night, I'm still confused and somewhat frustrated. I still can't believe what was written on this book. Still, I love the author, Priam, but his book this time is confusing.

I just realized Oh my God, this is my room! I took my hand over my mouth with a shocked expression on my face. Two Hours Later... “Done, I love that book. I can read a thousand times and not get tired of it.” I said no partially. Okay, Avery, I started reading a book called Fear Me” Oh, boy I can feel my insides tingle when I open the book. Three More Hours Later...

'Hey, I think whatever you said, it was right. A shitty past doesn't give me a license to behave in such a way in the present. But I would like to be honest with you. I enjoy the way I am or behave. I love myself and maybe I am way too much self-consumed. I enjoy power, I enjoy seeing fear in people's eyes and I enjoy every other thing I do. Maybe it's good or bad. I am the way I am and I don't regret it.
