There were more dirty dishes than I'd intended to use. The floor was slippery. A ceramic jug slipped from my hand and shattered while I was trying to add water to the food.

I groaned feeling tired, weak and so alone. Getting into the kitchen, everything seemed in disarray like I'd left. With Maggie's all over the floor, and some containers at different positions in the kitchen. I honestly hoped none was scratched or at worse, broken. I picked them all up, examining them critically. I was lucky they were hard plastics. I released the breath I'd been holding in. Then rested my hips on the cupboard as I took out the meat from the black nylon bag, it was dripping blood. I tore the nylon on the sink, switching on the tap and squeezing the nylon to bring off all its bloody entrails. Then I dumped them at the side of the sink.

I rushed towards it and turned the stove off and lifted the pan up and put it in the sink and turned the faucet on. I had burnt the chicken too. It was completely black. "Fuck me!" I cursed at myself audibly looking at the chicken that was sitting in the sink. "Believe me, I would love to," a voice echoed through the kitchen.

And the entire kitchen had a putrid, rotting scent that almost made me gag. It made me sad, seeing my beloved kitchen like this. I’d designed it myself, right down to the kitchen sink faucet. When I got home, the quiet evening ate away at me. I tried to clean, but all that did was destroy my nails. I cranked up the stereo to lose myself in music, but every song that played reminded me of him. Finally, I broke down and warmed up leftovers in the microwave. Each bite was worse than the last, and nothing in my fridge appealed to me. I pushed the remains of my meal down the garbage disposal and turned it on. Instead of the drain clearing, water started to back up into the sink. My initial response was panic until whatever was lodged in the blades cleared, but not before it gave me an idea.

I heard Fred inquiring me from behind. I didn't answer him. I remain to lower my head staring at the bloody knife within the sink. My blood was now mixed within the sink with running water. The image of it was even scarier. I had no choice but to turn around and cry to Fred that I couldn't wash the knife.
