I Make My Own Rules Novels & Stories

They are already writing my story for me. I drop my bag onto a bench and start getting ready. Shoes off. Wraps out. I sit and tape my knuckles tight, fingers moving from habit more than thought. This part calms me. The repetition. The quiet focus. A guy across the room snorts. “You lost, sweetheart?” I do not answer. I do not look up. I have two rules. Rule number one, do not interact unless necessary. Rule number two, do not let anyone know about you.

He probably hates my family. "Anyway, I should focus on the main thing," I told myself. I should focus on following Morgan's rules so that I don't get into trouble. The more I thought of it, the more I hated the stupid rules.

I had been trying to understand it but couldn’t because it was ridiculous. ‘’Rule 9,’’ I said and read it out. ‘’if I disrespect you, I will be locked in my room for a week without stepping out.’’ He frowned and raised his brows in confusion when our eyes met. ‘’And?’’ he asked as if the rules he made were not absurd.

'Nah, she'll see how tired I'll be tonight,' he thought. The voice was leaving him alone, he realized, and briefly wondered why. Then, all of a sudden he remembered that he'd lost the bet. "I'm still here bro. I'm just enjoying the scenery, soaking up the atmosphere and saving up for tomorrow." 'I think we need to establish some rules about tomorrow,' Mike thought. "Rules my non-corporeal ass, you'll do exactly what I tell you to do, no questions asked, that is the only fucking rule." 'Dude, we've got to have some kind of guidelines. I can't just do anything you say.'

Then I write another line. Rule Four: You will not investigate my past without my permission. That one feels important. And very necessary. Then I add one more. Rule Five: If either of us wants out after a year, we walk away clean. But If I ask you to walk away at any time, you will. Rule Six:

Mira and Zach exchange glances. “You tell her” Zach said. “Well the school has a system, top 10 and 20…top 10 are the high class they rule the school and they make the rules only after Axel approves them. “And whose Axel??”

“None of you know me. That changes today.” I looked at each face. Curious. Skeptical. Already deciding I was a mistake. “Let me make two things clear,” I said. “One, I am not here to play nice. Two, I am not here to play cruel. I can be water. Calm, patient, useful. I can also be fire. Hot, fast, and destructive. Which one you see depends entirely on you,” A murmur ran through the room. “My rules are simple,” I continued. “Do your job. Do it well. Do it on time. Don’t lie. Don’t steal. Don’t sabotage. Don’t talk about things that don’t concern you,”

However, I don't miss that annoying smirk at the corner of his lips despite the distance between. I give him a hard look but he doesn't look fazed and I hate it. What I hated even more was the fact that he was using the stupid rule against me. The rule that I, myself, came up with so that we could keep time and focus on training. Heavens, is there a way someone could take back the words that she/he said? “If one of us doesn't show up on time, you'll take care of the other person's laundry.” That was the stupidest rule that I have ever come up with in my entire life. I can't believe that he's using the rule against me since it was made for him.
