When I finally did, I flinched back gently but he held my chin between his fingers, drawing me closer to himself. My breath hitched and my parted lips opened, my chin raising slightly higher. “Do you want to sue me for staring?” My chest rose and fell in an uneven breath, but I forced myself to stay still, reminding myself that this want was nothing in the face of the mischief we had done before. We could stay close. We had done a lot of things, way worse than this… and perhaps the thought of that lightened something within me because… slowly, I moved my hand to the collar of his shirt and pulled him closer to me.

He pulled her closer until her head was resting on his chest. He inhaled before saying, “I don’t know what I’ll do without you.”
