No reply. I whispered into the darkness “Who are you?”

“Rest now. You're out of the dark.” But the dark wasn't out of me.

"We go together, or we burn together. Nobody takes you from me." We push forward into the dark, leaving the blood and the broken code behind us in the mud, heading toward whatever awaits us at the end of the night.
